I use Launchy and Start Menu to access all my stuff. I don't want them cluttering my desktop.
It's okay if they're organized somehow, but they're not on that desktop.

But form is not mutually exclusive to function; your desktop can be clean and also easy to use. It's just a matter of taste.

I don't use my desktop for anything other than viewing Rainmeter information. I use Windows shortcuts to access everything I need.
