I don't think it was accidental, but I made sure to bandwagon despite my 'aqquired' cs5.

It was accidental, the download links were just for people who already owned it because they are closing down the authentication servers for an ancient product.
Then they were predictably leaked to the internet.

Switched emails to Lavabit. I have given up Microsoft emails forever. They are now merging their email and IM with Skype.

Also despite CS2 being accidentally free, I would never use it in the first place. It's the principle. They sell overpriced software that other companies distribute free and open source.

Such as...
Because I'm pretty sure it's illegal to distribute the source code of Photoshop.

I believe he means image editing software in general, not photoshop specifically.

I've never had any problem replicating photoshop effects in Gimp.

There's this image editing software called Gimp, and its for people who aren't dense.
It's free and open source, and not 700 dollars. I can't stress the fact that it's not 700 dollars enough

The creator/s of Gimp never bloated and overpriced their product.

Actually I didn't.
Having used both, I can say that GIMP is less intuitive than Photoshop, and I wouldn't doubt that having a multi-million dollar corporation backing your product pays off in the way of tool, filter, and effect algorithms, not to mention usability and support.
The point was that yes there are free alternatives to Photoshop but if you pay for a $500 image editing program then you're going to get pretty much the best damn one out there.

GIMP is a REPLACEMENT for Photoshop, but it is NOT its equal.
