Re: Dwarf Fortress
I was busy building my combined cat-drowning and dwarf-pleasing-mist-fountain and ignored the immigrant wave.
Which turned out to be a mistake.
I went from 14 to 37 (new fort). AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
And I haven't even tested my machine yet ): I bet it'll be a fortress drowning failure!

Re: Dwarf Fortress
I find using tile-sets harder, but thats because i've gotten used to the original ASCII used. Any of you managed to make a large water-trap? Just finished mine, so I can't wait to use if on those elves, and humans.

That didn't really happen did it? No. I saw that somewhere else, he just copied it from wherever that was.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
It was a joke Grif.
Also I was right and my water device did flood the fortress, though I managed to turn it off before irreparable damage was done.
Then I got three ambushes before I had one soldier. The first was taken care of by some merchants and the rest killed all my legendary and important dwarves before running into some traps.
Now I have eight caged goblins and two caged werewolves.
I lost eight dogs to werewolves, so they should easily be able to take out some unarmed goblins.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
Depending on how long stage 8 takes the new AWESOME build should be out soon (with armies and fighting, and roads, as well as people in town that have actual jobs now, and anyone can join you in adventure mode, except guards). I check the DevLog out everyday, and it's quite interesting. View the development stages.Quote: Stage 8 is the only remaining stage that should take any time at all (and not nearly as much as stage 6's month and a half), though the revisiting of stage 4 will probably also have a hassle or two.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
I wish you could play as a dwarf working in a fortress in adventure mode. That would be exhilarating.

Well, the Adventurer Skills Arc will add pretty much 90% of the functionality for that. I want to be able to engrave.. If nothing else, adventurer engraving. Yes. He's so awesome, he goes off and he carves out perfect images of himself slaughtering the demons of the nearby goblin towers and the beasts in the local caves... I'm not so sure about actually being in a working fortress while in Adv. Mode yet, but you'll be able to pretend by doing various skills in the default dwarven fortresses...

As befits my name on these forums, I have some batshit crazy architectural monstrosities in plan for DF. The Fortress of Ultimate darkness, for one. Mwahahahah.

Just wanted to get that off my chest Did you erm, designate a zone of (i)nterest for (g)arbage dumping? Note it has to be NEXT to the channel/hole/magma, not on it. Also how do random stones prevent you from building an arena? Last I heard, stones don't actually do anything besides change the tile's appearance.. If you're trying to wall: just make it with the damn stone that's on the tile. No hauling required, no suspension due to item blocking site. EDIT: If it's forbidden, they don't dump it. Forbidden items get left where they are. That's the point of forbidding. It will be auto-forbidden once they actually dump it anyway...

I can't build in spaces occupied with rocks. My dwarfs say "Object blocking site" and sulk until it's dumped.
