Animos
This season I've been watching Shingeki no Kyojin and Watamote. They're both good, in different ways of course. I also recently finished FMA:B, Cowboy Bebop (and the movie), and I began playing the first Dangan Ronpa game. I only engage myself with good animes, you see. So what have you guys been watching? Talk about all your lame Japanimation here.
Things on my watch list: GiTS Some form of NGE Mirai Nikki Black Lagoon

Re: Animos
I remember there already being a thread like this? Not that it isn't buried deep beneath dust and other threads. (edit: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=24772) Either way, currently watching Shingeki no Kyojin (who isn't though), The World God Only Knows S3 and waiting for the last eps of Oreimo S2 coming August 17, afaik. SnK is cool but just isn't really for me and TWGOK S3 doesn't seem as fun as the first two seasons. Dunno if that's rose tinted spectacles or if I've become more critical though. Oreimo was great but needs a good ending... I watched Cowboy Bebop as well a few months ago, brilliant series and movie. Think I might rewatch it sometime soon if time permits it. Going to rewatch the Ghost in the Shell movies first though. Again.

Re: Animos
Just polished off Date A Live recently. Amazing comedic sense, high-grade waifu material, good anime. Shitty EDs though. Can't bring myself to care too much about SNK since I've already read it. ♥♥♥♥ Oreimo, Kirino is a little ♥♥♥♥♥ and I hate her. The show was legitimately better off during that period when she was not in it. Uhhhh... TWGOK, same as SNK.
Still waiting on Chuunibyou S2. Need to watch more of Highschool DxD S2.

Re: Animos
I recently saw Anohana and it was pretty good. It is about a group friends who grew apart after one of the members died and then come together again to deal with the effect that death has left on their lives. The characters will be very familiar to anyone who watches even a little anime. We have the stock main character with self-esteem issues but also strength, the tsundere love interest with red hair, the cold distant black haired woman. However I feel that Anohana really fleshes out the stock archetypes in a way that really few animes have done before. It's a bit of a tearjerker but it's got a lot of funny moments and is ultimately pretty uplifting. I don't know if anyone has coined this yet but I'd call it a "white tragedy".
Another one I saw was Gargantia on the Verduous planet. It looks like a mech anime but is more akin to Buzz's story in Toy Story than anything else. The plot revolves around a mech pilot who crash lands on a beautiful water planet as is stranded with no way of returning home. There is quite a bit of action but the real reason to watch the show is the humanization process of the stranded pilot. Much like Buzz Lightyear he has to learn to shape his identity around more than his military career and more than anything figure out how to be a human being (well I guess Buzz was a toy but w/e).
SnK I felt, started stronger than any anime I've ever watched before but it is quickly becoming less awesome I feel. Not bad, but it's not following up quite as strongly as I had hoped.
Also, to my eternal shame I really love SAO.

Re: Animos
SAO plucks every single internet-fag and weaboo heartstring I have. If it were a real game I'd dive in the moment I heard of it, even if it WAS a death game. Zero regrets. The anime for it was both good and bad. The first half was great. Included a bunch of side stories and reordered a lot of things that just made it more palatable and makes more sense than the original Light Novel. The second half was a disappointment compared to the LN though.

Re: Animos
Watched Rozen Maiden (first season, traumend, and ouverture), various episodes of K-ON until I got bored of it, Steins;Gate, Oreimo, Boku Wa Tomodachi, Chuunibyou, and Madoka
Currently watching the latest Rozen Maiden series, Watamote (in small doses), and I think that's it.

Re: Animos

Re: Animos
You wanna talk about Manime? It doesn't get manlier than ♥♥♥♥ JoJo. I just finished reading Stone Ocean, and have watched the newest anime a bunch of times. I really really hope they continue on to part 3.

Re: Animos
Nothing can even approach the manliness of JoJo. My JoJo tier list breaks down like thus: 1: Joseph Joestar 2: Jolyne Kujo 3: Jotaro Kujo 4: Giorno Giovanna 5: Jonathan Joestar 6: Josuke Higashikata I still need to read parts 7 and 8, so this could change.

Re: Animos
I was not expecting something so fabulous Also, didn't notice GitS on your list Miggles. Waste no time and watch dat ♥♥♥♥! The movies (GitS and GitS2: Innocence) are cyberpunk at it's finest. The TV series (Stand Alone Complex 1, 2 and Solid State Society movie) had their moments but imo never reach the same heights wrt worldbuilding, and are a bit more light-hearted/casual in tone compared to the movies. It depends on your preferences ofcourse, but if you're watching it for setting than the movies will probably appeal more than the series.
