alright so construction went, overall, well today.

The main body of the gun (minus the barrel) is all cemented together, and extremely solid. After initial testing of the arc-generator proved unsuccessful, I elected to just use a Weber barbecue lighter, stripped out of the housing to the bare electrodes. (price: 10$ if you don't cannibalize one from somewhere else).

And that's where it stands, as of today. Initial testing planned for tomorrow, and then projectile launching either later that day or the next.

Some spark plugs would have done nicely as well. Now a days they tend to go for a buck or two.

But then you'd still need a high voltage power source, since the plugs are just electrodes. Barbecue lighters, from what I've heard, can generate a spark stronger than that of an overloaded photo flash.

...Actually, you can even go without the custom power source. With some trickery and a bit of that metal-sponge-thingy-whatever, you can build a reliable nine volt system, even though it'll be a huge pain to reload.

But I digress.

This barbecue lighter disassembled into two electrodes in about fifteen seconds and it'll make an arc over a quarter inch long. So it's perfectly suitable for me.

So what happened to this? You shoot any walls yet? Fire any drink cans filled with gasoline?

Obviously the pink dildo converter that Contrary suggested went horribly wrong.
