PC to TV Audio/Video
Well tried some reasearch on google and such, so here's what I got: Hooking up the video from my pc to tv with a DVI to HDMI cable(PC doesn't have hdmi input). Problem is DVI doesn't carry audio with it(or at least 90% of video cards don't carry it), so I still need an audio cable for that. So question is, what kind would be best? I have one in mind on amazon but I'm not sure if this is priced well or if this should even be one to consider (yes I do need 12 ft or maybe even 25 :/) Any help would be very much appreciated. <3

The question would more be does your tv support mixing RCA audio into the HDMI channel? That cable would work if the answer to the above question is yes.

Re: PC to TV Audio/Video
HDMI transmits audio as well as video, but sometimes chipsets on computers wont transmit audio properly. You could always get an optical cable to transmit audio.

Re: PC to TV Audio/Video
I researched this a while back for much the same reason. There are two competing standards of high definition video cables, HDMI and DVI. DVI comes in approximately four varieties based on two criteria: single or dual link and analog or not. HDMI contains both audio and video, while DVI does only video. If your TV does not support mixing in RCA audio (the plugs you have there) to the HDMI channel, then you'd have to buy something like this fat bastard that mixes in the signals for you. I would recommend finding another product though, as $299 for what can only be some wires is a rather large ripoff.

Re: PC to TV Audio/Video
Alright that clears up a lot guys. Thanks <3
I'm just gonna go with rca since I'm pretty sure it will mix audio, and if not, I am never gonna spend $300. I was planning on spending ~$10-20. Have 25ft dvi to hdmi and 12 ft rca PC to TV audio all for $10 with free shipping.
Amazon :>
One more thing @MLC: Would the optical cable plug into the computer in the digital audio input? Just wondering

Re: PC to TV Audio/Video
Are you sure there isn't a VGA plug on your TV as well?
It worked on my TV w/ just a standard audio cable (Headphone jack).

Re: PC to TV Audio/Video
Yea, that's the whole reason I have to do all this. I was hoping it would have a VGA port, but yea it doesn't. Thanks for the suggestion though
And I didn't know that about the cable. I just might have to try that. Thanks a bunch
oh and out of curiosity where did you plug in the cable into your tv?
