Victory Day Parade 2010
Quote: One of the most important days of the year is coming up. Victory Day parade in Moscow. Commemorating the defeat of Nazi Germany after its invasion of the Soviet Union. 16% of the population of the Soviet Union died during the war (Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and the nations East of Volgograd (...Stalingrad) like the Caucuses). 24 million men and women lost their lives defending their homeland and their families. Today, May 9th is celebrated to commemorate not only those that died, but to show respect to the veterans that are still living, both domestic and foreign.
For the first time, units from the American, British, Polish, and French militaries will be participating in the parade. Be sure to make some time and watch it Saturday afternoon (Will be Sunday May 9th in Moscow) or just watch a recording of it on Sunday. You heard it here, thirteen nations are joining in the Victory Day Parade this year. You can watch a live stream of the parade at the link below this sentence. The parade should be going at around 2:00 AM Eastern Time. http://rt.com/On_Air.html
