You are all wrong. It works by loading the file as a virtual partition. The hard drive is the only emulated part.

You turned it into a "flame war."
I do not agree with Clam.
I like Linux.
I think you misunderstood me and started attacking me.

Another partition you have to split the HDD but with wubi it installs into a folder on whatever harddrive you wish, you plug that hard drive into another computer and you can dual boot at start up.

nope not virtual box, have you ever dual booted? i may be mistaking you for a generally intellectual person.

well in words you understand:

it creates another OS on the Hard drive of you choice, allowing you to boot from it. but as you boot into windows if you run WUBI again it gives you the option to uninstall it at the click of a button.

its a complete different OS that installs inside windows, but runs on its own

You harass me and call me stupid when you start talking about new information that was not in the OP, and act like I should have known.

EDIT: Kelas just explained why lots of people here think that WUBI is virtual box.

If you disagree, enlighten us why it is not.

From Wubi-installer.org;

"Wubi is an officially supported Ubuntu installer for Windows users that can bring you to the Linux world with a single click. Wubi allows you to install and uninstall Ubuntu as any other Windows application."

"You keep Windows as it is, Wubi only adds an extra option to boot into Ubuntu. Wubi does not require you to modify the partitions of your PC, or to use a different bootloader, and does not install special drivers. It works just like any other application."

"Wubi keeps most of the files in one folder, and if you do not like it, you can simply uninstall it as any other application."

Sounds like a glorified virtual box to me.

<-- Is correct. Look at me!

Also, wouldn't having linux installed on your windows partition take up a lot of space and slow down linux quite a bit?

linux slows down on VB because its sharing ram with windows, if you use WUBI linux uses all the ram and windows is intirely inactive because its not running!

Hi, I'm your friendly neighbourhood moderator. Your thread doesn't follow the rules: "No Advertising, noone wants to see your crappy forum."

Therefore it must die, have a good day!
