TFSR, I'm pretty sure (not 100%) tinnitus is caused by repeatedly exposing ears to loud noises (like loud music/ earphones, etc).

Same here. It sort of feels like a slight vibration in my lower throat. It happens with all the same stuff you described.
And I don't know what it is you're hearing, but I hear a similar thing coming from a vent I have downstairs - it's squeaky and it sounds like something beeping sometimes. Often it'll wake me up at night.
Also according to your textual evidence your tech is telling you "5S" via Morse code... Or "S5"...
