The most ironic thing is, I'm reading Fahrenheit 451.

Have you seen the movie for that book?
Trippy stuff man.

...The point of the book was that people watched movies and lost the intelligence or patience to read a book, and slowly books were banned so everyone would be equal minded. You are part of the group that fictionally started the story in the first place.

Well maybe he read the book and knew that and thus posted that as a joke.

Well, that's quite amazing. I fully expect this to be struck down in some way or another, but until then, there's plenty of entertainment to be gained by imagining what would happen if this was strictly enforced.

I really like how, under the terms of "fair use" (using copyrighted material without permission), you must contact the copyright holder to confirm that the material is covered under fair use.

And F451 was an ok book, though it's really just playing on irrational fears. I'm quite certain that that will not be the Armageddon of our times.

It only aplies to publishers, bloggers, etc. In other words, people who take the AP's stuff, and use it to write their own articles. AP is complaining that these people are taking its money, which sort of makes sense. There's probably a better way to not go bankrupt though.

In the name of "defin[ing] clear standards as to how much of its articles and broadcasts bloggers and Web sites can excerpt" the Associated Press is now selling "quotation licenses" that allow bloggers, journallers, and people who forward quotations from articles to co-workers to quote their articles.

It would seem to include private use, not just that done for profit, which is the main reason why this is mildly amusing. And that they can revoke your license at their discretion.

I'm not sure whether this is frightening or hilarious.

Ahahahahahahahha. I guess I should have read more. I can see them getting parts of this through legally, but only against those who profit, and they can't defend the revoking of the license, or I hope they can't.

See they make these documents out of paper and ink, with words in them! Authors make them up, and instead of a "script" it has plot!

And then you use your E MA JUH NA SHUN to visualize what's happening! Amazing!

That's some crazy ♥♥♥♥ man.

That is some pretty insane ♥♥♥♥ they want to do.

But the best part is that they can terminate your license if you offend them. It's almost funny.

Almost.
