AVG isn't only free software.
AVG Anti-Virus is free software. AVG Protection Suite is commercial software. There is a difference. Also, how exactly is AVG a pain? It operates in the exact same manner as any other virus scanner without flagging useful programs as trojans.

People who download a lot of "shady crap" are usually smart enough to do so on a not-mission-critical system.

And the fact that it's rather bloated, and they charge yearly just for updates, and they nag the hell out of you if you don't pay, and uninstalling the program causes major system problems at times...

Well, im downloading shitloads of "Shady crap" on my "Very important system" and it caused ♥♥♥♥ only one time
I reinstalled windows and everything about 10 days ago The previous one was operating for 3 years before the major crap happened (Internet lags, erros, blue screens, errors, more errors, etc.)
