 PlanetSide Insurgency(JMC Entry: Glow)
Backstory:A group of explorers were contracted by Tradestar to explore this planet shortly after it had been discovered. After striking gold ore a number of times in vastly different locations, Tradestar cut funding and left them stranded on the planet. A week later the whole place was turned into a war zone with these explorers still trapped on the surface. They made some modifications to their defensive weapons, then set to plowing through the battlefields, capturing craft where ever they found any. The chain carbine was an assault rifle designed for quickly getting rid of any unarmed life forms. The PSI removed all limiting mechanisms, boosting the fire rate to an absurd amount. The gun rapidly heats up as it fires, giving off a warm glow and a load of smoke. It can take a bit to reload, however. In their attempts to make a potent explosive weapon, the slag rifle was born. The slag rifle fires a bolt of metal that breaks apart and sprays bits of molten metal all over the place as it flies through the air. Due to the size of the rounds, the magazine capacity is quite small. Start your rebellion! Notes:This mod will be expanded upon at a later time, i just wanted to get these guns done for the JMC. no updates will occur for a while though. better .gifs will be made when actors are added

This is great! I love the slag rifle, I don't even have to HIT MY TARGET ANYMORE! 8/10 The carbine needs to get red as it heats up, and cool down before it reloads. It was be all for aesthetics, though. But it would be amazing and visually pleasing.

Nawt bad, nawt bad at all.
No major complaints.
9/10.
Unless someone comes up with something more polished (and this is polished), I think we have a winner.

Nice use of glows, compliments the mod nicely. .gifs help the presentation of the mod a lot too.
All in all, not bad.

Y'know what would be nice? If the molten metal showered out in the direction the bullet's going. It would feel more realistic.

 Re: PlanetSide Insurgency(JMC Entry: Glow)
Ahh. It was the first thing I thought of, I haven't looked into the code.
But it does that by having the round emit an emitter that then emits the particles, correct? If so, just have that first emitter emit the particles instead of the second emitter. And make sure the round is GetsHitByMOs = 0 and the particles aren't too heavy.

The sprites are b-e-autiful. I would say some visual effects seem excessive, but the sprites take the cake. Will have to wait for other entries to pop up before I make further comments.

Just by looking at the gifs I can spot some offset issues with the slag rifle but I do agree with Soldat, I like the sprites very much.

 Re: PlanetSide Insurgency(JMC Entry: Glow)
Testing in a second, but nice presentation, and awesome sprites! You have won my vote, good sir. I'll edit once I test them in-game.
EDIT: Very nice, Urch. Very nice indeed! The only thing I had a problem with was the speed of the rounds on the carbine. They seemed to travel a tad slow, but it really didn't affect gameplay, and I liked the overall feel of both weapons. Now you have earned my vote, not just won it.
EDIT 2: These guns...they are beautiful when coupled with a Browncoat heavy. Both aesthetically and statistically.

 Re: PlanetSide Insurgency(JMC Entry: Glow)
yup, nice jop on the glow, but I do agree with darkdoom, the chain carbine definitley needs to have the sprite make it look like the gun's heating up. it just looks a bit off to me having the large ammounts of glow without that. plus, can't wait for the actors and most likely more guns to come out. *following*
