Warhammer 40K Bolters
For those who don't know, bolters are weapons shooting large caliber(.75 to 1.00) self propelled high explosive rounds called bolts, so here are some of them: I know these are overpowered, they are supposed to be, a bolter is not just your average SMG. Sprites by Natti, ini and lua by me. Download:Attachment:

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
Also, I'd like to have criticism about the sprites so I can improve them later. Thanks.

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
Testing now, but the sprites look fine to me, Natti. The idea and name are terrific, great job on that as well. I think the normal bolter's sprite is slightly lacking in shading, but not a big deal in the slightest.
I'll edit this once I am done testing. Thanks, you two!
EDIT: Haha, sorry about the delay, I was working on a massive assignment for English. I just tested it, and I think they work fine, besides the enormous lag that my pathetic PC coughs up at me when I shout them. I am not keeping them due to the overpoweredness, but you guys really did do a nice job.

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
I kind of like the sprite for the Bolter but that's it.
To be honest, the shots are really buggy and by buggy I mean when you are going through the air and firing, the shots seem to either shrink or kill me.
The bullets also seem way too slow.
I honestly like stormwolf's (was that his name? I forgot) version.
Good job on the exploding bullets but that's all. Also, since the bullets are so huge, shouldn't you make the bullets bigger with bigger mass so that half of the killing is due to the sheer size of the bullets compared to normal bullet size and the explosion?
And speaking of Stormwolf's (I definitly got his name wrong) WH40K mod, can someone convert it?

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
AFAIK, all the existing WH40k mods do work with B23 and B24. No need for converting. And I don't think you should be flying while shooting a weapon of that size. Even the normal bolter is so powerful and heavy that no regular human could shoot it because of the enormous recoil. In the official WH40k universe, that is.

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
There is a velocity bug too with the bullets, i'll correct it. Edit: corrected, please redownload.
Also bolts aren't high velocity bullets, the destructive power comes from the explosion rather than the velocity, a bolt is supposed to have just enough muzzle velocity to exit the gun, it then accelerates using its solid propellent, so in game the muzzle velocity is fairly low(~50m/s) and then increases over time.

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
I used less than half the clip. And the .gif seems to have a slightly slower framerate than actual in-game. Dunno why.

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
Delicious Criticism of Natti's sprites: The magazines on the Bolt pistol and Boltgun are not all that great, they don't look like they actually curve at all, they just stick out at an angle, the shading looks a little dull, I would recommend adding some generic chapter colours(red is real common) to add some visual variety, Here's an example through a bolter I sprited up a long time ago

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
I thought that because we are not making any actors I won't use any chapter's color scheme but just make them grey and black. But thank about the magazines, I'll try to improve them.

I'll edit this once I am done testing. Thanks, you two! Just so you know, they didn't make these up, they're based on a very popular game called 'Warhammer 40,000'. That said, the weapons are out of scale. Considering that a regular clone is of normal human size, the pistol is a little bit too small, but the Boltgun is about the right size. The Storm Bolter is FAR too small compared to the Boltgun, the thing should be about the same bulk but a bit stubbier in terms of barrel length; right now it looks like a big pistol, when in reality it's more like a LMG to the Boltgun's assault rifle, just with a really short barrel for some reason. The Heavy Bolter is a bit too small as well, the current sprite has only a slightly larger 'volume' than the Boltgun sprite, when in reality it's longer and a little bulkier. Here's some pictures of the plastic parts, for reference. Not actual size, but compare them to the size of the hand. http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.p ... cts_id=226http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.p ... cts_id=548http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.p ... ts_id=1434http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.p ... ts_id=1421

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
You could probably easily balance this by making them true to the fluff; that is, make them break your arm if you're not using a heavy actor and make them more costly.

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
Or make actors along with them. I JUST REMEMBERED HIS NAME! Its Wingwolf!
Anyways, other than that, these bolters are better because they do explode without the camera moving back and forth, making me want to barf. You should ask wing wolf to add these to his actors or make actors of your own.
And if you do make the actors, please make more than 5 factions...

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
Aren't you making actors along with these? That is also a way to make "some" balance.

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
The bolter magazine is oddly positioned, as previously stated. More curve.
Also the Heavy Bolter is all kinds of wierd, and super small. It's barely bigger than the regular bolter, just looking from that screenshot.
EDIT: Just noticed there's a crappy muzzle flash looking at the GIF up there. Bolters demand epic muzzle flashes.

Re: Warhammer 40K Bolters
I'm not very good at making muzzle flashes, but I can try to make something better. I'll fix the magazines later today and try to make the stormbolter somewhat larger. Thanks for the links, Winterous, those will surely help me a lot. And thanks to you all for the criticism on the sprites. EDIT: Sorry, Winterous, but the regular clone actually isn't a normal human. Look at this image made by Prom: As you can see, the normal clone is about 2 metres high. I think I'll make the Stormbolter a bit larger so that it's almost the same size of a boltgun and I'll maybe modify the heavy bolter a bit.
