Post CrazyHorse (Weapon Release) Single & Burst Fire Modes
Other than some work I've been doing to try and get the metagame working, this gun is my first release.

Shoots bullets, no glowy future-stuff here. It has 2 modes, single and burst fire. Swap with Z. Balanced IMO, no one-hit-kills with this baby.

Don't ask me how I came up with the name, I just did. I've also included the various gun models that I ended up with on my way to the complete product. I figured they might be useful for future learners. They are in the index.

Disclaimer: the gun ini is 900+ lines long, and utilizes no less than 5 luas. I'd love some help at cleaning that up. However, still runs like a dream

All known bugs or errors are in the notes/credits file. Please read this file before posting feedback, the bug may already be known.

P.S. I did not personally code much of what is in the release, so please give credit where it is due:

-Credit goes to Whitty for use of his Heavy sniper code that taught me about emitters. (granted I removed the explosive rounds) Very Helpful. It was also the muzzle effects from this mod that I altered into the ones you see here

--Credit goes to CaveCricket48 for his BurstSMG that totally pointed me in the right direction in approaching burst fire, and also his amazing luas that allowed me to merge my two guns "CrazyHorse"(originally full auto) and "CrazyHorse Burst" together into one.

---Credit goes to Gotcha!, creator of the Unitec faction, for his original HK 21 gun sprite

----Credit also goes to the creator of Bear Federation for original inspiration and the sound file for the gun, and for the ModuleIcon I based this one off of.

Without the contributions these amazing modders have made to the community I would have had nothing to go on. Thank you

Additional thanks to those on the forums that helped answer my questions and find the right files. (You know who you are)

I know, but I'm at school, so everything I put up I have to port with a flash drive. I'll try to get a pic or two up by tonight. Really wanted a gif tho. Guess I just gotta be more practical.

I did that Lua for Gotcha! He (well, I) just changed it to work with the Z button, on his request. And that messes up the switching too.

Precisely the reason why Apollon should have asked permission in the first place, so that we could have told him there were bugs (due to my requested changes to your working files) and that CC48 deserves the credit for those scripts.
I also severely dislike that people just grab other people's sprites/stuff and modify/use it without asking.
Apollon, next time do ask people for permission when using their stuff. Common Courtesy.

I apologize. I figured that giving credit (CaveCricket is mentioned in the credits file,as are you) was all that was needed. would you like me to take this down and only release it minor mods then?

Sidethought: Everyone wants this game to advance, and to see new things, but if everyone has to ask permission from every person they learn/get assistance through the use of their files from, wouldn't it slow things to a crawl...especially if everyone I talk to has to tell me who they got their help from. Example: me learning from Gotchas! release, who learned that from CaveCricket, who learned that from... etc etc. Just a thought

P.S. I was kinda hoping you'd be excited and happy to see what other people have created using things that you made possible, clearly i was wrong.

No need to remove anything. It's just nice to ask people first. I almost always give permission anyway and I bet most people do.
But there's the principle of the thing and no one really wants to see someone's sprites/sounds reappear in 500 different mods.

The thread is too negative, and I disagree with the feeling that permission is mandatory rather than a nice option.
Here is a snap of a dude firing the stuff this mod gives you.
ImageImage
Note that it does not take away multiple rounds when you burst, it simply took me a few tries to get a good snapshot.
In retrospect I should have gotten images on a lighter background, as the gun does not stand out.

Handled by an AI it is actually pretty useful. The Z button to toggle works fine, though you should be able to buy it in burst mode as well.

Thank you Phantom AGN for helping me by posting pictures.

If you would like to buy the burst variant by itself you can activate it in the index.

It won't be able to swap tho, because that is an older version.

Other versions are available there as well, such as full auto versions and non-smoke emitting version (first version, called HK)

P.S. if anyone could post a gif, that would be awesome, since I don't know how/can't make one myself

What usually satisfies other creators as far as copying is a listing, in the topic, of what you grabbed from other mods, like so:

Credits:
Shook, for being awesome and his sine wave code
dragonxp, sprites
zalo, magnagun firing sound (from his supercannon)

I picked some names and reasons out of my proverbial hat, but you get the idea. A credits text file is fine too, but mentioning it right in the OP is a lot better, since people really don't read extra txt files in a mod.

Not trying to be mean or anything, and I don't think Gotcha was either, but it is nice to tip your hat in the direction of your mentors of sorts.

Yea I agree. I'm learning as I go. A lot of things become obvious in hindsight. Don't worry though, I'm a quick learner so these issues won't pop up again.

Right now though I'm more interested in feedback on the gun, since it took roughly...10 to 20 or more hours of my time and effort... So yea, I'll take both harsh critique and constructive criticism, as long as I get some feedback on this thing so I can come back with better releases in the future.

Edit, I'll be sure to edit the release to add pictures and appropriate credits as soon as I get the chance.

I really liked the way it worked, though I have not tried it as a skirmish weapon or extensive use of any kind.
Switching like the HL2 overwatch rifle CC48 made would be better than a keypress -- and only that as we still have no official secondary fire.

I thought it might feel more realistic if in burst mode you were limited to 4(?) rounds in a clip, and it forced a reload of itself after each burst, thereby appearing to fire all four rounds. if only we had access to the round counter in Lua.
