Post subject: | Hey look, unfinished ♥♥♥♥ | ||
Remember ages ago I planned to make that Skull Faction, then dissapeared? Well as it turns out, I can't be bothered to play Cortex Command anymore. So here's my unfinished ♥♥♥♥. I did not get very far with this, at all. The Skull Clones are functionally the same as normal clones (I think they might be slightly stronger because of the armor placement, but I'm not sure), and the guns are just slight tweaks of the original Spine and Rib rifles. I had alot of plans for this, but I just can't be bothered to finish it, and even if I did want to, I think someone else could do a much better job than I could. That said, backstory and stuff- Backstory Genius and Sanity always seem to be different sides of one coin. Neither can be up at the same time as the other. Which is the very reason the Skull Faction exists. One brain found the gold rush silly and pointless, mainly because he was already incredibly rich. He used his money to build a massive spacestation, where he performed his experiments. What were his experiments? He found that, given the right input, a cloning machine would spit out a mutant instead of a normal clone. He simply wanted to see what he could make from the clones, then he would copy and save the DNA of the mutant so that he could create more if he needed to. He made one fatal mistake. He misjudged his mutations. One lucky freak managed was born with enlarged organs, and an enlarged brain. It proved to be an amazingly quick learner, and the he inserted a control chip in order to stop it from figuring out how to stop him. He misjudged the strength of the clone's brain, and it overpowered the chip. Defeating the guards was easy, the scientist was never a combatant, and the brainclone had been planning for this since he met his brethren. The brainclone let his brothers free, not long before he decided to kill the brain by breaking a single hole in the glass and letting it drain away slowly. The brainclone had ideas. Many ideas. Brilliant ideas. His mutant brethren and the twisted mutant cloning machine, he could make an army. An unstoppable army of flesh and blood and mutations, and anyone who was to oppose it would be nothing more than resources, bones, blood, DNA, weapons, armor, the enemy's only purpose was to fuel the oncoming storm. The Scavenge began. Skull Clone The Backbone of the Skull Faction's ongoing scavenge. It's basically just a Heavy Coatilation soldier, it even looks like one in alot of places. Skull Clones wear a skeleton as armor, and the skeleton appears to have been mutated in order to fit over them. Spine Rifle Sticks and stones may break my bones, but bones themselves are weapons Slightly different than the originally converted version. The Spine Rifle fires barely visible shards of bone. This version is slightly more powerful, and slightly less accurate. The Spine Rifle is the standard weapon of the army. (And it looks really wimpy at the moment, as the sprite was originally designed for the old tiny clones) Rib Rifle There is little more terrifying than the sight of a Skull Clone using your own clone's skeleton as a gun. The skeleton in this case is not mutated, instead it's been filled with mechanics. It fires smaller shards of bone than the Spine Rifle, but has rapid-fire capabilities. The Rib Rifle is quite heavy because, well, you're walking around with a human torso in your hands, plus mechanics.

I can't be bothered to download this, as it's like the vast majority of faction packs. They play the same, have new guns that just fire the same, and are pretty much like painting the coalition. No DL |

That skull is delicious, much better than any attempt I made. My mask mod was originally gonna be lookin like the skulls, but I couldn't sprite them. Nice sprite work, but the rest of the mod doesn't particularly stand out. |

He's probably just releasing it as some sort of base for other people Sorry to the maker, I personally won't be downloading it. I'd rather not use such unfinished things...that looks pretty skeletonish though, so nice job on the spriting. That "No DL" thing people add just seems like "To top it off, I'm going to say 'screw you, I'm not downloading it' ", though maybe you did not mean it like that. D: |

I'm of the disposition that anyone who says "No DL" has no legitimate opinion on a mod other than to state they aren't downloading it, as it's basically a book cover judgment if they give criticism and don't try it out. |

PS criticizing a mod without downloading it is utter bull♥♥♥♥, and almost as bad as people who post to say "LOL LOOKS COOL WILL DL AND POST LATER" and then just make another post. ♥♥♥♥ irritating. |

A large majority of the mods consist solely of "resprites." Most mods have no gameplay-enhancing aspects, no modified behavior, no special activities or scripts--just a sprite to take place of normal actors. In this situation (and many others) judging a mod by its appearance is more than adequate, because the mod only modifies the appearance. Alternatively, there are a handful of other mods (old school kinetics, AAL, zombie survival mods, et al) that bring something new to the table and provide an extension of typical gameplay. Those are the mods that have depth that is worth investigating. So in this situation, for this mod, judging by the cover is acceptable because the "book" isn't anything besides a magazine full of pictures. Tell me what else there is to judge in this mod, besides its outward appearance? |

Basically what thor said. It's just a coalition resprite with a bone-gun. About every mod has one of these gib guns. That, and the fact that it is, Unfinished Crap. |

I might also note that when you see a mod thread that basically says: "Hey, this is junk, use it and build on it if you feel like it", it's still comically unnecessary to say you will or won't be downloading it. I view this as more of a mod resource, so it's not really worth commenting on or grading like a normal mod. If you want to take it and build on it, do so. If you don't, move the ♥♥♥♥ along. |

I hate to be a contrarian, but just because someone says they know it sucks doesn't make them immune to having criticism given. |

Well, the work you did do look really nice. Posting this was definitely not a detriment to the DR community. Good work! I maybe even use this someday (I assume this is permissible). And despite being unfinished, this is of a greater quality than quite a few mods that have been allowed to circulate though Mod Releases. |

ProjektTHOR wrote: I hate to be a contrarian, but just because someone says they know it sucks doesn't make them immune to having criticism given. I can't agree here, either. If I post a mod that's a piece of ♥♥♥♥, and I say, "Hey, here's a PIECE of FLAMING ♥♥♥♥.", I've already established the low quality of the mod. Obviously I don't need people posting in the thread telling me it's a piece of ♥♥♥♥ or how much it sucks. I've already established that. Any posts that reiterate what has already been established as fact is spam, the pure definition. |

No one is immune to criticism, saying you are is just plain idiotic. |

I'm immune to criticism, because I have not published one of my mods. They'd likely be flamed to death, anyway. |
