Complained that you wanted flat portals instead of round portals did ya? well here they are ya damn picky people (it was a few of you which asked me to change to circular portals in the first place!)... why is the release of this so long after that one you cry? I'm lazy, it's actually only been worked on for three days... new thread because this is an entirely different version to the other one. Pics http://filesmelt.com/Imagehosting/pics/ ... 49ac5a.png you see that awesome alignment from naturally shot portals gifs showing new mover tool (lag is caused by printscreening) and how awesome the portal algorithm is. featuring (new): Mover tool a quick hack I put together for testing hold one of the function buttons (x-rotate CCW, c-rotate CW, f-move portal) to alter the portals properties, warning both portals can be attracted to the point of rotation portals aligned to the walls (perfect ~80% of the time but you can always use the mover anyway) portal goodness on any map and portal everything and anything from any mod relative portal enter/exit positions momentum conserved when you fire new portals, old portals of the same type are removed from the scene press R to remove both portals two portal modes, change with Z key (press and release to change between the default mode and just warp with no direction change mode). buy from the "Tools" tab in the buy menu. bug: the portal face (the brightest side of the portal) may not point away from the wall face, in fact it's a very common situation, this is annoying but it doesn't really matter because you can either press r and try shooting the portals again or rotate it using the mover tool. oh crap I forgot the download xD

This is beautiful. I love how it can work (to very odd results) with the grappling gun. The previous version was already good enough to never leave my mods folder, this is going to basically be a permanent addition. |

On the first GIF, the way the arrow on the screen disappears as the animation loops makes it look like the screen is teleporting the guy upwards instead of the portal Got my dl by the way. |

Always wondered: Do the CPU players utilize this? |

Well, AI Players can't look through the portals (unless we have access to the AI's raycasting thingies), but I guess they can shoot the gun at other players. |

Hey, glad to see my dear sister pistol being used for something... Yea, shooting yourself with it is always a classic. |

I will use these portals as shields, and place the other side of the portal next to a matter to gold converter. |

Won't download, because I personally liked the circular portals much more. |

metal chao wrote: Now I can put two portals in an X inside eachother you mean like this? Yeah, its really cool that you can do this, and I'll probably DL, but, the practicality of it is sort of... impractical... i keep expecting to try to shoot under an actor, and have it align to there shoe. Its still really cool, but if I wanted portals, i'd play portal. although I really wanna get a Drop crate full of explosives cought in a loop, and then add a portal on a wall and send it flying at someone. you know what... DLed just to do that... |

I put a limit on Y velocity to 50. (so that you could do that vertical portal thingy shown in OP without brutally splatting into the ground because you were going so fast you 'skipped' the portal) when that happens (portals intersect) whatever is in it just keeps portal-ing forever till you remove the portals then it hits whatever is in it's way and brutally explodes... also if you put an actor in it and you control the actor the camera keeps moving in front of you when you reach the top Y velocity, this is a 'problem' with the CC engine not my code (a similar thing happens when you try to go as fast as possible across a looping seam map with a rocket). also if you prefer circular portals then you should keep the old one, the only improvement that would be relevant to your interests in this mod is the portal mover (which would work on circular portals if you copied the index file and mover tool ini and lua file and sprite into your folder). edit: also if you want the scene download the original and delete the lua scene, sprites and sounds then go in the scene ini file and remove the lua script line and go in the index ini file and remove lines for the portal gun. |
