That would be pretty cool but bayonets in CC are kinda stupid since you can saw your feet off if you aim downwards so yeah maybe a toggle system ?

...or we could use the completely functional melee system Darlos has already implemented?
Just a thought.

Or maybe a sword which could also act as a shield stopping/deflecting bullets?
Two functions in one, in that way it will have a use.

Yeah that would be pretty cool I think like a samurai unit made specifically for melee would be cool but pretty hard to do

Bullet deflecting shields have been done before. I'd just say, have the sword only deflect/hurt in short (reloading) bursts when fired. That way not ALL bullets are deflected all the time, and it requires more skill to survive without a gun.

I don't think that DarkStorm really needs a sword. Current melee is overpowered already.

Melee is not overpowered. Actually, it's range underpowers it a lot. And melee is supposed to be strong.

Oni melee is quite crap to be honest since it has to be charged but IMO Tengu melee is very very powerful. Tengu is incredibly mobile and can close the distance to an enemy very fast thanks to the jump mechanics (wall jumps make it even better) and if they hit once they completely disable that unit with EMP-like effect leaving him completely at your mercy to eviscerate while at the same time using his body as a shield from his buddies. Repeat. Win.

Oni melee may not be OP, but it's sure as hell fun. FALCON... PAWNCH!
Nothing like nailing a flying Dummy midair with a coil gun.

Re: DarkStorm Military Technologies -- Updated 12/20/09
Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know that I've kinda been NOT working on this for a while, since recently I landed a job and I have to move. While I theoretically could use free time to work on this, I'm having a hard time concentrating on it because with everything that's going on I feel like I could get interrupted at any second. It's hard to focus. So once I get moved and my job starts, I'll get back on it.
Regarding melee, something I really need to do with the Tengu/Yuurei melee is put some recovery between slashes so you can't spam it as fast. That way the melee speed would be about the same as the Oni punching lightly repeatedly. I might make the melee stronger to compensate, for all the units.
I probably won't be making a sword though.
