Uh, that's... very odd-sounding. I'm not really sure I'm going to do that.

I suggest the good ol' grappling hook.

You could only add the wall jump, that is enough for climbing vertical shafts. Maybe not necessary clinging to walls, but wall jump would be nice.

I'd sugget giving Oni a JumpJet. Allowing them to receive a big upwards thrust (once per jump, cooldown on landing) but it wouldn't allow them to maneuver horizontally. Good ol' Planetside style. It would make them still feel heavy but also would allow them to siege tall walls.
Or maybe allow them to climb vertical walls but no wall jumping?

Well I was thinking of adding climbing to all the Bushi units, but... I'm actually not sure how to implement it smoothly. It's not as simple as just making them move up and down, since you have to deal with uneven surfaces. And then you have to consider the fact that they can cling to ceilings too, so you'd think they could hand-over-hand across ceilings.
I dunno, maybe I could make it work if I just think about it a bit harder.

Maybe just a wall-jump would be enough to give the Oni better movements.
Because if the jumpjets it has and jetpack is the same as in the last version, it's mobility is pretty good.

B 26 is nearly out which means scripted pie menu options which means this mod has more capability of coming out! What are the plans of what is to be added anyway?

Maybe give the Oni the ability to fling itself in a direction after delay spent immobile?

The facekick from mehman's work would be awesome with these guys. Usually I'm kinda apprehensive of his work (no offence) but that looks freaking crazy. It'd be awesome to have that sort of stuff (simple CQC) mixed in with the oni's other CQC stuff (picking people up and tearing them apart over your head while screaming on cocaine was planned at some point, no?). You could make it make sense by putting forward facing blades on their shins for some gut slicing action.
Pie menu option for each CQC mode would be nice too. Slow grappling and tearing or faster punchy kicky stuff, plus "normal gun" and "wall clamber"

Re: DarkStorm Military Technologies -- Updated 12/20/09
what would be awesome would be a pie menu option when you grapple someone to dismember them. so like you grapple someone then select dismember and upon pressing the fire button you tear off limbs. first dismember would be the legs second would be arms and third could be the head killing the actor. with limbs it could be both at the same time or one at a time.
then after you've torn off all extremities you could throw the torso for actor-bowling opportunities

That actually sounds like an incredibly entertaining idea, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement (or at least, how worth it given the relative merit and the relative difficulty) or how practical it would actually be in the middle of a game of CC.
