I can understand that. Maybe a 2nd, smaller dropship could have a light machine gun, but be somewhat more vulnerable. Darlos9D wrote: In other news: I just got done hammering out the new functionality for the Tengu. Now rather than having a typical CC jetpack, it instead can engage a full flight-mode, which gives you a lot more control. Basically, it can fly just like the yosei flying drone if it wants, though with limited flight time. Now I just need to tweak numbers and aesthetics. The Tengu's wings are about to get a lot more animated and impressive-looking. Nice!!! can't wait!

Those wings look pretty good, but it strikes me as being a little ostentatiously tacticool and not quite sci-fi stealth ops enough. In other words, I like them, but like the old ones better. Well, keep in mind the Tengu technically isn't the stealth unit. I plan on making the Yuurei even more balls-out as far as that goes. Also from an actual tech standpoint, the old "wings" were always kinda weird to me. What was with the blue flames? And what's the point of making the thrust come out of multiple points on a long tube? This current design combines a more standard angleable source of thrust (which is where the gray gusts are coming from) with articulated wings that help provide guidance. @Miggles: Well actually the wings aren't constantly flapping. They're folded up a bit like in the left pic when flying sideways or up, and they unfurl like in the right pic when dropping altitude. Like I said, they're more just there for guidance. Without thrust, the Tengu drops like a rock. @Slax: Yeah I need to work on the actual thrust visuals a bit. Actually I need to work on the wings a bit more. Maybe make them a bit more blade-y looking, and also add some blue outlines. @Hotshot: Yep, that's a shotgun on the left there. 12 rounds in dual magazines. As the new HUD above him shows, both magazines are currently loaded with buckshot (hence the two "B"s). The arrow in the middle designates which magazine is being fired from, and the "AUTO" surrounding it means that it'll automatically alternate between the magazines as you fire it. The Tengu on the right is sporting the new and fully revived D7 Sniper Rifle. The L at the top can mean "Lead" or "sLug." Basically it just means it's currently loaded with "regular" ammo. (Armor piercing would be "A") I'm going to have to write an entire guidebook on how to comprehend all this crap.

Maybe have the boosters/jets stick out of the lower back? Angled just right so you can understand what you're looking at. Not sure I even know what I'm getting at since it's a bit difficult to picture.

Originally I said that flight mode would be like the Yosei's flight, but now I'm starting to rethink that. Since the Tengu now has physical wings, it should be able to glide with them, even without thrust. So now I'm thinking I'll set it up so thrust is only used to gain horizontal velocity or altitude, and when not using thrust to do one of those things you just glide along... silently. Perhaps that would warrant the physical wings a bit more, Asatruer?

True enough, though my own personal view seeing the entire faction as being more stealthy than most others probably colored my commentary... That said... blue flame isn't very stealthy is it? Nor really automatic grenade launchers...

Silenced, automatic grenade launchers exist.

Perhaps that would warrant the physical wings a bit more, Asatruer? ever play batman arkam asylum? maybe the wings could act like the cape? either a rapid decent cushioned enough not to damage the character (basically being able to pounce on enemies) plus a glide function that would be deliciously brutal, imagine them rapidly jumping up with amazing altitude, gliding over an enemy then dropping right on them and pouncing with a perfectly timed blade slice.
