Hrm, I've read this in my mecha drawing idea book, as well as animes, models... Generally for mecha, the upper leg is slightly shorter than the lower leg. However if you're going to do same length legs, aka the 2ed leg shown in the pic above, either the top or the bottom should be more defined, in width, or design. In the sprite note, the legs should be longer, the new MARS feels short.

Kickawesome. It gives a kind of compact (in a dense sense), beefy feeling, like it's really just a huge magnification of a normal soldier. (CC usually makes stuff look thin in comparison to real life) One thing that could be changed is a little more armor on the pelvis, the way you have two huge sections connected by nothing more then a little joint ball gives him an unnatural hourglass-like shape =S

Hmm, true that. Though it's probably going to be a little while before i do anything about it, i'm having a surge of laziness right now, preventing any work being done.
Also, folks, it's not a mecha, it's a giant robot. No gentleman piloting it, in other words. Apart from your brain.
@Exalion: Round shapes generally offer the best deflection overall. ;o ("edged" shaped only deflect from certain angles, and besides, a square head would make it look as goofy as the old MARS)
@DSMK2: Right, thanks for the advice. Also, it may be short, but it's also twice as heavy. I'd like it to be like, "Oomph" when hit by a flak cannons shot, but more often than not, it engages in a wild spin. While this does look rather comical, it still bugs me that hand-held weaponry can cause it to spin like that.
@undertech: Robots don't need no genitals. ;o

Hey folks, just wanted to notify you that i've finally begun work on the armor for MARS... That's how it currently looks. And remember, i'm not done. Also note the thicker pelvis. Now to go work on the back armor... And later on, the code for it all.

Well, not yet, but i should probably do at least a few big gibs for every piece, considering that armor really isn't made to blow up in nuclear fire when broken. I won't be making uberly detailed gibbing like that of the vanilla stuff though. And thanks.

That new MARS is lookin badass. The shotgun has old looks though, will you upgrade its sprites and the other MARS weapons too?
But still, now MARS looks like Robocop in mega-size instead of a '50 scary alien robot from unknown.
