Well, if you're talking about real life miniguns then it really depends. Sure, some are only 5.56mm in caliber, but the vehicle or aircraft mounted ones can be up to .50 cal or 30mm. So it's the author's choice to make it powerful or not. Anything's possible in CC.

Though I also think the minigun is overpowered.

Hey genius, I said MINIgun. (and so did you, which proves you don't know what you're talking about) The "mini" in "minigun" directly refers to the fact that its a scaled down version of its bigger, vehicle-mounted cousins that you seem to think fall under the term... which they don't. They're autocannons.

Also, THE Minigun - the M134 - is 7.62x51mm. Though apparently there's also a 5.56mm "microgun." Also, "minigun" has come to be a catch-all term for any small rotary gun, though only in popular culture. In the military a minigun is the M134.

Not to say using it as a catch-all term is a crime. After all, I have a "minigun" in my own mod. In that case (as well as in the case of this mod, it seems) it's a scaled-down revolver cannon, not a scaled down gatling autocannon.

A minigun is a specific brand of gatling gun.

A gatling gun is a rotary multibarrel gun.

And actually I can't remember any .50 gatling guns. There's 20 and 30 mm aircraft cannons galore, but I don't even think any military has seriously considered mounting gatling cannons on vehicles. Too many cost and reliability issues. Plus, it doesn't take much .50 to keep people supressed; the M2 does the job juuuust fine.

So the minigun in THIS mod should be a high ROF pea shooter?

Thats for you to decide ;)

But really, the sound on the minigun is horrible. I do like how it works though.

Ah whatever, updated though, minigun power somewhat decreased, added shotgun and shovel (not included in activities.ini! AI expects diggers to be rapid fire, I'll consider energy based equipment to be extremely expensive to the Diemos Army).

Okay, pea shooter is a bit of an extreme in the other direction... make it as strong as the AK47 rounds and you should be alright.

Heyy, I just wanted to point out that in devices.ini, you've got a reference to DSTech.rte/Null.bmp, so it could cause a few problems for some people :)

Alright, excuse my lack of knowledge, but save the sarcasm please. Do aircraft gun pods also not fall under the 'minigun' category? And what about the vulcan?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gatling_gu ... style_guns

Gatling gun refers to a rotary, automatic weapon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minigun

The "minigun" in particular is the M134 Minigun, a gatling gun developed by General Electric which fires 7.62.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcan_cannon

The Vulcan is a 20 mm gatling gun.

*scratches head*

Gatling guns -> Machine guns with a rotary barrel.
Minigun -> Gatling guns with high ROF -> Started as a name of a gun made by GE, but pop culture makes the name synonymous with high ROF Gatling guns.
Vulcan -> Vulcan Cannons -> What you'd usually see on Airplanes -> DSTech DSWB05's.

So where is this thread going? High ROF weapons are fun, lets leave it at that.

Darn you DS, you stole the shovel idea from my brain. You gotta wonder though why no diggers sprited like shovels have turned up even before now...

No doubt about that... Don't some Gatling weapons have explosive/incendiary rounds? That would be interesting for a turret or some other large Gatling beastie.

I think I saw some guy made a shovel, but it was so long ago... OK, quick story on shovel.

Diemos Federation Goverment wants to cut costs from buying diggers, so they had shovels instead. As an incentive, there's some kind of contest for some rather wanted stuff (no idea what), so they have shoveling (mining you fool!) contests. The one who shovels the deepest, the farthest, without getting worn out, gets the prize, no runner ups.

Then a few days later, when everyone's gone off. They shove in some heavy duty machines to extract the resources...

They do? My knowledge of real world weapons is nil. My vision of this faction isn't that big right now...
