And no, that's not the finished sprite (You can see i'm missing some areas) I'll see how it turns out, and then make necessary adjustments if it's too phallic. (Like, flying dildo) I'm going to add fins at some point, hopefully making it less... Phallic. Rofl! You too? Seriously, every time, and I do mean everytime I begin on spriting a rocket or a missile it always turns out like a fudge penis. I dont know how it happens, but it just does. And from there, I try to fix and modify parts of it to make it look reasonable atleast a little. xD But seriously, make it a rocket! Use the default rocket legs for it for starters and it will looks awesome. Those legs also cured the penis disease from my previous rockets/missiles. Also if I saw right, those are doors near the bottom of the rocket; make them larger and taller. It'd look much better. EDIT: Dude I just noticed the MARS' guns dont have gib limits. Could you make em destroyable pls?

I'm very fond of the new additions. I don't get people's complaints about the sprites, they look fine to me.

EDIT: Dude I just noticed the MARS' guns dont have gib limits. Could you make em destroyable pls? Lulz, i shall keep it as a rocket, and see if i can de-penify it =P (Will also enlarge doors) Also, sure... Somehow. They should blow up nicely then. With booms. And FIRE!!!!!! I wub fire. I should make more fire weapons. Heehee. *Imagines something along the lines of a MARS flamethrower* @Morbo: Thanks Also, i believe it has something to do with expectations. If you saw my sprites as the very first ones, without knowing how epic other sprites are, you'd probably think like, "Meh, looks ok". But seeing that people generally have played the game, and maybe seen AAL, Crobotech and the likes, they think that my sprites are bad. And frankly, it's true >.> (And don't get me wrong, i love those packs o' neat shiznizzle) @wutangfan: >__________________> You have no idea of how horrible the last pelican i drew looked. That was several years ago. My eyes are still in the process of recovering. They'll explode if i made another one. Though it would undoubtably be lulz, i just suck too much at graphics. Also, i'm currently busy with Far Cry 2, so pace of work is considerably reduced, to say the least.

I get what you mean, but i don't get WHY. xP Might try to make it temporary, but the wounds don't seem to cooperate. Also seen in the other wounds. They just won't stop, even though i did set a clear limit on how many particles of blood could be spilt. Also, colored penis rocket, go! Now to add some things that'll make it look less like a friggin' penis.

Good mod. Bit overpowered in the sense that the M.A.R.S can plow through 5000 babies, but other than that, great job.

just do drill in one point again.
LOSE THE ♥♥♥♥ PILLOW SHADING!
Honestly, your sprites could be fixed instantly. just change the freaking direction of your gradients. if you made the top of that rocket get lighter then darker it'd look 100 times better, AND it's easy!

Re: [WIP] The Pelian Army *Update: October 19th '08*
Yeahyeah whatever. But what you HAVE to understand is that i'm INCAPABLE of just changing the direction of the shading. Even if i tried, it would look even more mind-bogglingly horrible than it already does, and that's a lot said. But you have to admit, pillow shading is better than no shading >.> If i was able to do better shading than this endless pile of ♥♥♥♥, believe me, i'd have done it LONG ago. So if anyone could give me some kind of comprehensible tutorial on how to "CHAENG DIHREKSHUN OF SPRAITING", i'd be rather grateful. Until then, get ♥♥♥♥ used to it, it's not going to change just like that. I'm getting sick and tired of hearing ♥♥♥♥ about ♥♥♥♥ i can't clean up. I don't think you know how much effort from me it already takes to make this ♥♥♥♥ that basically makes you puke. Too much. And i'm not talking "oh teh noez dis taeks 5 mins :C". The PlanetKiller, for example, took HOURS. Non-stop.
@Im_Sparks: Thanks, and it's supposed to be like that :0

You know how you always make the colours in the middle slightly brighter, with them getting darker as they radiate out from the centre?
Simply have the brightest colours in the top right corner, and have the darker colours going towards the bottom left corner.
Of course, this assumes a uniform shape with no sticking out bits, but just try it this way for starters.

Type "sphere" into Google image search, and then attempt to make a pixel version of the first shiney thing that comes up. That's pretty much what I did back when I made my now-obsolete floating, spherical security drone. Once you figure that out, you can just make the top of your rocket/pod thing there be shaded like the top half of whatever sphere you made If you really care to get better with the medium, you just gotta practice. Go find an actual picture of something that's similar to what you want to sprite, and sprite it. That's what I did. If you're decent at all with pixel art, you'll be able to translate the colors and shading of an actual picture into pixels. In short, sprite from references, and don't doubt yourself.

Re: [WIP] The Pelian Army *Update: October 19th '08*
Thanks for the tips, Trouser and Darlos I tried spriting from a reference sphere, and although it's small, i think it turned out surprisingly well... Don't know what you think though. This is the image i sprited after. Now i just need to double the size, color it green and put it on the top of the rocket >.> (And of course, i'm not just going to enlarge it) It also seems that the shading of a cylinder is surprisingly simple, maybe even so simple that i can do it! :0

Shook is evolving... o_o But yeah, before you sprite your rocket randomly with random shapes(like you just did) I suggest you study some designs and study some pictures on the internet on rockets. When you have reference, you will have a clue what details you could do. I often visit http://www.deviantart.com and type in the thing in the search field. If I want to make... lets say a "laser rifle", I type that in the search field and I get tons of designs I can look at and get ideas. You can find alot of good stuff and inspiration from there for almost anything, rockets, dropships, weapons, characters.... you name it, they have it.

numgun wrote: But yeah, before you sprite your rocket randomly with random shapes(like you just did) Actually, only the central green plates are more or less random. The rest is planned out. Also, i prefer to keep the content as close to the contents of my thoughts as possible, and how i think the things will look if brought to life. Keeping things original, y'know? Not saying that everyone who uses references aren't original, of course. But i'll keep it in mind, it'll surely come in handy at some point. Also: Any good? (It's in the CC palette)

Re: [WIP] The Pelian Army *Update: October 19th '08*
Looks good, but it suggests a very bright light there, something you don't see in CC. Maybe a very pale shade of grey, but solid white is a bit too much. Other than that it's good, now try irregular shapes, like guns, and try doing them small enough to fit in CC while preserving the same level of detail. It's not easy. As inspiration, have a look at this huge shotgun I made when learning to sprite. EDIT: Actually I'll dump a whole bunch here.
