I can almost hear the news reporter.
Although there are rumors of LFoW, a famous CC modder, copying a weapons look from Borderlands, he has not responded yet to these little arguments. And in other news...

Well it's not the same thing. It's not like it's a recolour of a Borderlands sprite, it just looks the same.
That's like saying the Vanilla M16 is totally stolen from real life.

It's a blatent recolor.

Because ripping off publicly available things is obviously exactly the same as copying another person's work directly, and no one on these forums has ever duplicated the style of videogame art. Christ. If you morons are going to start a kangaroo court, stop and think for two seconds. PS: Clearly there's no work involved in this sprite besides a recolor; that's why the entire outline of the gun and all its detail were added by LFoW. Even if he did start from the same outline (likely, I'll admit) there's certainly enough work of his own added to make it sufficiently different. I believe this exact same argument was had about the Punisher, especially the hands, so, I'd recommend not calling the kettle black, Maximdude. Also, Benpasko, stop being retarded/attempting to troll.

Also, Benpasko, stop being retarded/attempting to troll. Dude, I have Borderlands, and that is a recolor of one of the HUD sprites, just not the one you put it next to. And it's exactly because of that argument with Maxim that I find his ripping-off of a sprite humorous. Let me google image search, and see if I an find the HUD sprite it's a recolor of, because I know that's what it is. Here are a few of the closest ones, but Borderlands HUD images are apparantly hard to come by. As I said, I have trouble finding the exact image, bu it exists, trust me. And I'm done with this argument, before it gets out of hand, which it surely will. Edit: Oops, that first collection of images, I only wanted the left side, middle one.

I think all of you guys should stop bickering about it, It probably took a decent amount of work for Lfow to put it in palette from borderlands because I seriously doubt they use the same color scheme as CC, and anyways, who gives a rat's ass? its inspiration, i bet it isnt gonna do the same thing as the sniper from there.

Grif wrote: I used the image Maximdude chose. Yes, this is the same exact argument as with the Punisher, but this time, pointed at LFoW and not at me. Also, it doesn't matter what I chose (I chose concept art, which is obviously different from in-game stuff). I can clearly see that he has done very little work on the sprite itself except the change of colors. The only reason i'm bringing this up is because I find LFoW a real hypocrite for bitching at me for 'ripping off' his work when he himself, rips off work of somebody else and does exactly the same thing I did, recolor. Plus this is copyrighted work.

Re: Armored Brain Units for Dummies NEW-V2.00 finally. 01-28-10
Why does all the fun stuff happen while I'm away? I take one day to celebrate my 4th anniversary and I come back to a village at my door with torches and pitchforks.
I post a WIP of a sniper rifle I'm playing around with (read WIP) and I come back to some crusade in my thread? By Maximdude no less? Hardly surprising. Just because your mash of soda-can grey you did for the Punisher is completely laughable doesn't mean you get the right to pass judgment on -my- work.
If you had been reading the thread rather than witch-hunting it you'd have gathered already I've been pretty inspired by Borderlands. It's a damn great game gun-wise and I like the look. I've been finding ways to incorporate them as weapons into my mods (even debating in a full mod on the game).
But to stoop so low as to call me an outright copycat is pretty lame, bro. I mean, the one spriting for a guy who Control-C, Control-V'd my .ini and replaced some names is accusing me of plagiarism? It's clear what side you're on, so why don't you stay on it and out of my threads?

This is about the sniper rifle sprite, not his work. He did original graphics for the Punisher, he didn't steal your work. And it -is- suspicious that there's a full cel-shaded border, near identical design, etc, on the sniper rifle, and a bit on the revolver, but not on any of your other work. Argue your point, not your opponent's credentials, or else you end up looking like an angry fool. I know I said I was done arguing, but his response was just immature, and I felt the need to post.

The fact Maxim can do both with my work then high-horse my threads says little about him. I've already edited the WIP you people have so many problems with. I was on the fence about a huge Behemoth using a sniper rifle anyhow, so I'm glad you people know how to tip a scale. In any case, any further progress on this mod will remain hidden until I release it, since some people (read: jealous;incompetent) can't handle legit worklogs. I have plenty of people I can bounce my progress off of for feedback that don't succumb to such things.
