Weeks away for sure. So much to do still, especially since we can do lua tricks now, which I am not familiar with yet, but I really want to implement funny things. I probably/hopefully have help when the time's there, if time allows them to help.
5 maps are done, apart from lua stuff. At least 10 more to go, and several smaller maps to add to ease the pain for people with slower pc's. (Mind you, all maps will be smaller than those in mappack 2. Same width, half the height.)

So none of the maps in no. III are bigger than the ones on no. II? Ah well, just as long as we get more cool space maps...with floating concrete spaceships.

Trust me that they will be better and will still have plenty of space. Only the sky limit has been reduced, and the sky was awfully high in mappack II.
Bonus is that coalition dropping down without a dropship actually have a chance to hit the ground softly instead of screaming for their lives as their jetpacks run out of fuel halfway down.

Reducing the sky was the only possible thing to reduce map size in the hope making the maps less laggy for slower pc users. I don't want to reduce the landmass. Big maps are more fun in my opinion. :)

Anywaaaay, I am going offtopic in my own topic. If you feel like contributing though, sling me a pm. :)

Yup, Tosty's weapons mod. :)
Several weapons and shields are his doing, with some minor touch-ups and rebalancing from myself.
I found it to be one of the most fun weapon mods when I first came into contact with this game and they're still awesome today.

It might come to a surprise to you, but a Dragunov and an AI AWM fire similar objects out of their long barrels. Same with an M60 and FN Minimi.
If you're looking for an added firework explosion upon impact, complete with baby missiles, groundflowers and confetti cannons I suggest you make a mod yourself which does just that.
And while you're doing that, go check if you can find some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism to give me, instead of throwing your dislikes of my mod due to a difference in taste.
I actually like your mod. Like I said, I was originally drawn to your mod due to its scope and breadth, so I suggest you just chill out.

The thing is that even though the guns may or may not be similar in real life, putting extremely similar guns in the same mod pack becomes overbearing. And I'm not the only person to voice this opinion.

I'm not saying you should change anything, I'm saying that you should go through and consider removing items that are too similar.

There's honestly no reason to have six different types of rocket launchers when they all do the same amount of damage, do the same thing, and look the same. This, combined with my last post, doesn't really get any more constructive.

You, my friend, are the one losing control and being all negative. This is me wearing my Nice Hat. Don't make me put on my Mean Hat.

I have to agree with TH- uh, ODIN here, really. In real life, all of these weapons would probably have nuanced differences that experiences combatants would notice. In a game though, all we have is velocity, sharpness, and mass of projectiles, along with firing speed and magazine capacity on the gun, we don't have that. We don't have to worry about the balance of the weight or how the bullets eject or how the feeding system might jam up. At most the guns might have different levels of accuracy, but even those would end up being so minutely different with so many different guns that it wouldn't matter.

I don't think he was calling for fancy explosions. He was just calling for less weapons period.

If you want to hold true to your pack, try and just pick a couple different guns you like in each category and make some obvious difference between their function, rather than having 5+ in each that are mostly the same.

Thank you, Darlos. I thought I was being clear, but you did a much better job of clarifying my thoughts than I.

Also, fancy explosions would be nice. Look at the explosive's that the Crobos use. They are absolutely beautiful

Huge explosions might not be strictly realistic, but you should be taking full advantage of the engine you are provide with.

Also, you can call me Thor/Eric/Odin, whatever. I don't particularly care. I'm not hiding.

Don't mind me; about 99% of this forum doesn't seem to understand the definition of the word constructive. If you read your first post again, do you feel it is constructive? I do disagree.
I have to admit that I am getting annoyed by the overly easy given criticism about someone's work where so much time have been wasted in. Anyway, put your meany hat on if you want to. Don't let me hold you back if being a 'meany' works out for you.

Ontopic, I am aware that there are many guns in this mod that are the same, and as it is now I won't be adding any guns that would be pretty much the same as the current ones. Like I mentioned before, I went out of control and kept making new ones.
I like them all though, and don't see a reason to remove anything. Most seem to like it as well, since the boo's are fairly low compared to the amount of downloads. And it does make a battlefield feel a bit of a Toys'R'Us, scouring the level for weapons to use. (At least, I feel that way.)

The only thing I can advise people is to place the 'buyable = 0' line in the weapons.ini file for every gun that they don't want to see in the buy list.
That way the buy list is overseeable ingame as well as keeping all activity files intact.

Small sidenote; there are minor differences in many weapons, although I have to admit they're minor.
Scoped assault rifles for instance see a little bit further (G36, Steyr), some have a slightly more powerful bullet whenever I feel they should have it (I am no gun expert though; we don't have guns for sale in my country (thankfully)), some have a higher rate of fire, etc, etc.

Downloads do not equal popularity. I had to download to try it out, that doesn't mean I liked it. Mods are judged by their criticism, either positive or negative.

Not their download counts.

Anyway, we're at an impasse. Some people feel that your mod was unnecessarily--broad in scope. You obviously feel different. Oh well.

I liked the mod. It is good. I am willing to continually re download this for each updated version. Just wanting to state that first.

I think with LUA we will actually be able to change the property of bullets being able to maybe make a more realistic hollow point round where each fragment would curve around and spiral when it hits something. So were not really that limited anymore but it will take some time for people to start really putting LUA into mods because it takes awhile to get used to and some may just not want to learn.
