Re: Brutality Mod
Urch: IMO that sounds contrary to what this mod is about.
For me, I think a pistol would be enough. What I'd really be interested in is a walker/dready for the Ronin and Coalition. If every faction had a basic actor, a machine gun, an armoured unit and an anti armour weapon, it would be perfect.
I can't stress enough how much elegance you've reached with your simplicity. At the risk of sounding weird, it's beautiful.

You don't have to worry about sounding weird, seeing as a standard response for something high quality on the internet involves the implication that the writer is sexually aroused by the subject in question.

Looks interesting. I'm going to try it out now, but I wanted to comment on an initial reaction.
Why this file sharing site?! Not only does it force you to wait to download, but their site is COVERED in ads, AND their download speeds are horrible!

Hey, it is fun as hell to run around, praying to gods that have never existed, nor have been proven, that you don't get hit, nor your armor compromised. Though it is very easy to kill, it hard to survive, and flying is a nightmare even when you are only holding two empty guns. The gore more than well makes up for it, and the fact that you have to scavenge like dirt is power, and you are the universe.

Re: Brutality Mod
A railgun would be so much overkill in this mod. A sniper rifle is enough. Unless it is anti-armor. That would be good, since it would be less effective against people than a rocket launcher.
Personally I think the Ronin should have the RPG, and Coalition should get a homing missile launcher. Ronin could use a desert eagle, and a less powerful nail pistol for the dummies would be nice.
Also, a light machine gun that the AI could use would be good. Just make a slower-firing gatling gun with no spin-up.

Re: Brutality Mod
This will appease everyone searching for realism and gritty battles.
It feels realistic, but after all, this is a game. In an RPG, FPS, or most other games, when you hit or shoot something, they do not die immediately.
I was playing the tutorial mission, and my units were dropping like flies until I turned up the resolution so that I could snipe them. It's like you're wearing no armor at all, it's similar to a knife "cutting" through hot water. There's no resistance.
In my opinion, jetpacks are a bit too useless, and it's too sudden death. Other than that, I'm undecided... it doesn't seem too bad. However, I have no doubts that this mod has some rough edges that need polishing. Like a diamond in the rough, you might say.

Re: Brutality Mod
To clarify, when i said railgun, i meant a railgun that can be carried by a troop, like a rifle-version of the vanilla rail pistol.

Re: Brutality Mod
CrazyMLC, the point of this mod is that you can't run in guns blazing. What about riot shields? If anything modify the vanilla one to be more useful.

Re: Brutality Mod
I understand, Commodore, it just seems a little... over the top.
Why do you start skirmishes with nigh unlimited money? Rocket Launchers are a tad overpowered.

Re: Brutality Mod
I actually modified the riot shield to be stronger and transfer less force to the actor. I also made it bigger. It's very useful now, but the rocket launcher still rips through it. It's not over the top. In the tutorial mission, the dummies have a fortified base. They have to advantage. You need to be a little more clever than using one guy and an assault rifle. Riot shield works. Sniping the guards works. Digging underneath it works. Waiting for the guards to come out of the door and mowing them down with a gatling gun works.
Though the dummies are definitely more overpowered than ever. You need to lower the gibwoundlimits, right now dummies outperform any soldier. They need to have a weakness as well.

But I have to agree, to those guys are overpowered, and this is the ♥♥♥♥ future, missing a limb shouldn't be so mortally wounding, a headshot should be a one time thing ( and nothing else if you want to live ) .

Re: Brutality Mod
My only complaint is the rocket launcher.
The grenade launchers fills the anti armour niche perfectly, and it's balanced as foot soldiers can easily get away. Rocket Launcher is good against both, and that isn't fair.
I'm inspired to make my own total conversion now.

Re: Brutality Mod
I absolutely love this mod, the atmosphere it gives to the game is great. My only gripe is the text, but I can get over that by memorizing everything in the .ini's. Keep updating this mod, it's almost flawless.
EDIT: One other thing I don't like (it doesn't have to do with gameplay at all) is that the coding is very messy. Everything that isn't used is left in the .ini's, but once again, I can get over this. I can also see why you left them in, for dependencies, but it makes reading the parts of the code that are ingame quite difficult.

Agreed. Maybe make it so that it's so inaccurate to fire while moving that it's likely to blow up at your feet, so that you have to stand/crouch/go prone to shoot it. Or, make it shoot-able, so you have a chance of intercepting it.
