Brutality Mod (B25)

Updated for B25. There are a few tweaks here and there, and I might have forgotten to include something from the B23 version, but otherwise it's the same.

Oh yes: the UI is less invisible now. There is text in the menus, weapons have names, and there's an ammo count over the actor. It's a compromise.

Remember that you have to copy the files over a clean install of CC.

By the way, check out what I did with the senario menu items.

EDIT: Oh, and the new AI makes this a ♥♥♥♥♥ to play. If you have any tactical advice (or suggestions for changes to the mod), please tell me, because I'm getting murdered. :P

EDIT2: And tell me what you think of the pistol! I love the pistol. I love opening a map in peaceful mode and shooting my own actors with it. It's just so satisfying. Even the sprite contributes to how satisfying it is.

Hi, I've just tried installing the newest version of the brutality mod you posted (for B25) on a fresh installation of Cortex Command. When I tried to play it I was rewarded with this message:

"Abortion in file .\System\Reader.cpp, line 534, because:

Failed to open included data file in Dummy.rte\Devices\Devices.ini at line 3!

The last frame has been dumped to 'abortscreen.bmp'"

I've tried reinstalling the game a few time, and other mods work just fine, is there any current fix/tweak for this issue?

Thanks in advance, would be amazing to play this mod for real on B25.

Yes, I've already increased the interval by ~70%, but I think I need to go further.

Ah, this is great. While it's not something I'd leave permanently installed, it's great to mess around with. It needs more stuff in it, but your sprites are fantastic. the pistol is indeed satisfying, and the damage done with weapons is pretty realistic. I do have a few nitpicks:

Perhaps increase the damage threshold just a bit. It sort of sucks to take two hits and then die in five seconds. Maybe increase it just a little bit so you can take three? It's good in theory, just a bit too much. Or maybe just increase it for the coalition heavies.

Update the coalition rocket launcher/bazooka to look more modern.

Give the dummy soldiers a bit of a chin. It seems a bit odd to see it rounded off like that.

Played this mod for a first time
It is completely awesome, and the only flaw I could fine is that you CAN NOT kill a coalition soldier in a single headshot. I have tested it with any weapon on peaceful mode
Even if I shoot him straight in a face with a sniper rifle, he just loses blood a bit, and only then dies
The fastest way to kill him, is with two shots of shotgun

Oh, yeah. And do bullets ricochet? When I accidently shot in the ground sometimes my soldier insta-dies
-edit-
I was thinking that new post automatically edits the previous one.
Sorry for that

Now I know what I like of this.

The real CC style is pretty cartoonish, well, cartoon + gore.
This makes it more serious, like more war + gore.

Hey, I'm really exited to play this mod. One problem, I'm missing the terrain.ini file, and I have no idea what's supposed to be there, it's supposed to be in base.rte/terrain.ini, Help?

People don't die instantly from being shot; the fact that it takes a few second for 'em to die after being shot in the face is more realistic than if they just shut down like the robots do when their head is filled with a large-caliber round from a heavy rifle. The only thing unrealistic about it is that they just take it like a boss and keep on fighting right until the end, but that'd probably be pretty difficult to fix.

Shoot yourself in the head from a shotgun
Post results

But seriously, I don't think ANYONE would stand a sniper rifle shot into the head, if it is made from a 1m distance

Oh, I'm not saying you can SURVIVE it. But you can't survive a headshot in this, either. People don't die instantly from being shot in the head, despite what movies, television and video games have taught you. They're down for the count, yeah, and won't exactly be level-headed, but they don't immediately cease functioning.
