Wikipedia is zonking out a bit... but here's what I gathered:
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is first published in 1979.
Douglas Adams died in 2001.
Length of time needed for a literary work to become Public Domain:
-in the UK: 70 years after author's death (for copyright terms based on author death), 95 years after publication or 120 years after creation whichever is shorter (for copyright terms based on publication or creation).
-according to Universal Copyright Convention: 25 years after author's death, 25 years after publication.

So, to that calculation, it's public domain in 2006 (UCC based on publication), 2026 (UCC based on author death), 2071 (UK based on author death), 2174 (UK based on publication).

I don't know whether i should facepalm or you just don't have you know, LIBRARIES somewhere in your countries.

Apparently, there are no libraries in China (or at least not within a 5 mile radius around where I live, everyone's too paranoid about people "forgetting" to return books), and even if there was one, I highly doubt that they would stock enough English literature to even have a minuscule chance of having the book I want.

So no, I think it would be better to save your facepalming for later.

Also, China's constantly trying to block off google, not very successfully, but it does make it a pain to google search stuff when the website keeps going down once every hour or so.

It is not public domain as far as quite a bit of google searching can tell me, so that's that. Sorry ryry but you'll have to be on your own, though you can pm DrVonBarron for help perhaps.

Also DrVonBarron I took out the lol, the rest stays though. If you can find proof that it is public domain from a reputable source, then we can talk. All I found were people just stating the fact like you did, not any actual news articles or legal stuff.
