Re: Photon Collider [Modding Theme Entry: Bunker Systems]
I am just dazed with glee that this thread has gone into particles and energy physics. Right straight up my avenue of interest.

They also happen to move at the speed of light. Having them appear as dots and colliding doesn't really make much sense, but let's just go with it.

These are SPACE photons so they behave differently from real photons.

Photons are bosons, and their behavior is modeled with QED, (Quantum electrodynamics) Neutons are fermions and their behavior is modeled with QCD. (Quantum chromodynamics)

The energy they carry is determined by the frequency of their electromagnetic wave oscillation (E = 6.626x10^(-34)/(2*pi) * frequency). Their momentum is equal to E/c. Because they have neither mass nor charge, photons cannot "collide." Rather, they either constructively or deconstructively interfere with one another. <---- Had a final exam over this stuff a week ago.

You missed the joke :l
Anyway, changing Photon to Proton should fix these complaints.

Re: Photon Collider [Modding Theme Entry: Bunker Systems]
Is the containment sphere for this object designed to erode away after a while? Because although it makes the dangerous particles accessible, it's kinda annoying.
Plus, I can just install a teleporter whenever I need someone to go inside.
Speaking of which, this thing, when two particles of a different type collide, should create a black hole (props to whoever gets the reference).

I would imagine actually checking for collision would be impossible/laggy as hell. You could probably fake it.

Okay, new list of things to do.
_Change photon to proton. Not because I'm weak and respond to peer pressure, but because I want to. >.> _Make my new protons red. _I already planned for something fun to happen when the two different objects collide, probably sommat of an explosion, or black hole.

Re: Photon Collider [Modding Theme Entry: Bunker Systems]
So, after reading both pages of this thread, I'm still not sure what this does, except make particles that spray randomly and/or spiral around, then when they collide something happens. Hate to sound like a militant bucket head, but how exactly does this benefit my base? What function does it have other than appearance? Can I harness it to destroy my enemies?

Plant a trap for your AIs to fall into. They get teleported, then vaporized.
