Other mods do need some work to make them function, especially really big mods.
However, if they were coded as self-contained, they will still work pretty much right.

If you want full compatibility you would do something like a mod which loads a lot of the original junk, but entirely buyable=0.
I'm actually working on one of those.

So I applied it to a fresh install but no dice. Getting this error: "Abortion in file .\System\Reader.cpp, line 531, because: Failed to open included data file in Base.rte/Scenes.ini at line 225!"

Not sure what's going on, and I'd really like to get this working. I was always wondering if someone would be able to cut out all that other stuff that I didn't use.

How did you merge the files in the end? Been stuffing around with filemerge.app - no luck though.

Change line 225 into this: IncludeFile = Base.rte/Scenes/RockValley.ini (There's a typo there, naming it dockValley.ini)

If the main download could be updated, that would be nice also :)

Manually. It was complete crap, but it means I know what was changed everywhere.
I'm pretty sure there is a better way to do it, but I said screw it and just threw it together in a half-delerious state.
Only has to be done for Base.rte, the other things are full replacements for the factions.
I suppose I could zip up the result and share it, but that probably breaks a "do not share CC's base code" thing.
If an admin does not PM me with an official stance I have no issue linking people to it (minus settings.ini naturally).

I posted a workaround on the Brutality mod thread:

Due to osx's stupid ommission of a file merge feature, I had to use transmit to install it. But then I ran into the afore mentioned wav issue. Dunno how to fix that, unfortunately.

The wav files don't work on osx though, so I haven't been able to play it. From all the replies about brutality it seems a damn shame - would love to have tried it out.

It occurred to me to do that, but it seemed "too hacky."
The command line tools provided are also perfectly capable, but I was lacking in brain power and figured manual would be least likely to miss something critical.

I missed the brutality mod, I guess I need to run that next.

I like this mod a lot, Cheesemonkey. It does feel similar to the earlier builds too.

It's a great mod and all but it seems like if you have this mod installed, you shouldn't really get ANY other major mods at all.

If you've got a major mod that i think I can modify or fit into the game i'll totally do it, but by major mod I mean a mod that actually has a new function rather than new actor skins. And no I did not actually end up adding dummies because i thought nobody cares. But if people start caring I might actually develop it.

Since i seem to have a habit of taking long hiatuses contact me via google talk which is in my profile somewhere, and some other ways to contact me.

The problem is that the game has literally zero useful doccumentation (thx data <3) and I didn't even know there was a buyable command until I deleted half of the ♥♥♥♥ files.

I went through and fixed some, but not all of them. And I hate to take the apple approach, but this is something that's supposed to be balanced with itself. Half lazy half steve jobs.

So is this you taking cortex command in your own hands and trying to make it yourself? (if so you may get sued by the company that made cortex command ^_^ just a warning incase this is what your doing)

Or just tell me the feutures of this If it actually is different (Becuase i dont see anything different)

The OP has all of that info, bro. This just removes most of the redundant content and the things not intended to be in the final version, but were left in for some reason.
