I'd be willing to maintain a list of the most iconic mods if anyone thinks this is a good idea.

To get a mod in on the list, just post the mod name and a link to the thread in the list thread, then that gets added to a poll as an option.
When a mod has enough votes, it'll get on the list.

I'd make a poll but I can't in here apparently.
Just say "aye" if you agree, and "I disagree" if you disagree.

Though, one issue with this would be if people think that a mod shouldn't be on the list, or get mad because one of their mods aren't on the list.

I shall submit my own scene pack, since I'm going to update it. And I'm an egotistical ♥♥♥♥.

And I'm an idiot!

Oh not yet, we need a thread for it first.
This is just for deciding and discussing wherever people think it's a good idea.

Aye.

I think if we make a list of well made Mods then it will be easier to find mods that people might enjoy.

My vote is "Bad idea", since favorite mods will suffer the same problem as favorite modders. Lots of differing opinions.

Maybe have a committee of seasoned members review them, and then decide if they have merit as a "Hall of Fame" mod? Hopefully, since they're not newer people (who tend to have a less than adequate grasp of manners), the arguments will be civil and full of well thought out points, instead of "NUMGUN SUCKS ALL HIS MODS SUCK".

In the same way the mod review panel didn't work out (for those of you that remember it), I don't expect this to work out very well. The list will be too huge to be of any use.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that old thing!
Like I told you in the Steam chat, I personally don't think this is a good idea and could end in anything other than tears.
Also I think it would be a lot more work than you expect it to be!

Especially as it hasn't worked in the past

But TLB, nothing can go wrong with committees! Maybe have it be a monthly sort of thing? Once a month, you have submissions, and from those is picked the top mod, and that mod is put into the hall of fame. Leaves you with 12 mods in the hall per year. I don't think that'd be too big.

I'm not thinking about having em reviewed or anything, just be put on a list of good stuff people should consider downloading.

No, the issue was that it was a committee. They couldn't decide on anything, and it just devolved into an argument. I don't recall if they even finished reviewing a mod. If they did, it was like three or four before they gave up.

Sarcasm TLB, sarcasm. But Lizard, if anyone can just say they'd like their mod on there, it's hardly a "Hall of Fame", or anything along those lines. There needs to be some sort of quality assurance thing/making sure it's a good enough mod to be recommended. Which is the problem, of course.

Which mod review panel are we referring to, here?

There was the mod review service where mods were posted, by everyone, in the generic 'unapproved mods' subforum, and then a cadre of talented persons would elect to move them into the 'approved mods' subforum after at least 2 (or maybe 3) of them supposed it passed muster.

Additional note: I was a member of that panel, and I never, not once, downloaded a mod. But I did approve plenty.

Such is one of the slight failings in the system.

I think that was the one, and yeah, that would be one of the issues.
