First off, let me explain why I'm doing this: bans and warnings don't work/aren't scary enough, since no one's life revolves that much around DRLFF. So...

We all know embarrassment is harder to live with than a ban. Chances are that warning someone that their title will become something along the lines of "walrussucker"*, and eventually doing it will be more efficient than preventing that person from posting. Why? Because then they can post, but the post will be brutally besmirched by the horrendous title below the username. Think of the last time you did something stupid at work/school that resulted in a sadistic nickname which stuck on for at least a few weeks, and you'll get my point.
*That was just nostalgia.

Basically, my point is that you can't prevent someone from mocking another with the mere threat of punishment, but you can with the threat of embarrassment. Like forcing them to post in pink, changing their sig to "I love getting my ass kicked.", etc.
I'm not capable of coming up with more brutal ideas right now.

Sliiiight problem. Personally, I would view having a custom title, since barely anyone has one,as a bit of an honor. Even if my name changed to pink and my title was "Gaywad". Although in that case I can see how that would work.

Not to mention this would be a headache for the people upstairs. All those custom titles take work to implement.

Okay, how about each time you get banned, we double the length of time it is. So if you screw up badly, 30 days. Another infringement and you get 60 days. Then 120. Then at the end of it all you will just be banned pretty much permanently, and we do check up on IP addresses regularly.

That being said, could you give me an example of people not caring if they're banned?

How many times was Grif banned? How many times was THOR banned? What about Daman?
Besides, banning prevents the people who usually have something useful to say (like the first two above) from saying it. And that would be detrimental to the community. Now, humiliating them with a title would make them behave so that it goes away, while not preventing them from being useful.

I haven't been here very long, but it seems like the Banhammer has only really been at all coming down once Weasel arrived. Speaking of that rodent, he probably should have made a devlog post by now.

Those guys used to be a lot crazier about a year ago. This forum used to be a lot crazier in some ways a year ago. They have calmed down from my point of view. Besides, we didn't do the "double the ban time" thing back then.

Because titles can get extremely annoying, if unpleasant, and public humiliation can be a horribly effective weapon. No one is immune to it, as long as you find the specific thing that does it for them.

There's not so much sadism as B18 or 21, I don't find necessary new or stronger punishments for now...

That's why it would be a good punishment. Noone would DARE incure it. I suppose lafe himself would have the run of the place though... Eh, let's just use my pink Gaywad idea for him then.
