Post subject:  Avatar Workaround
The old workaround of using an external server to host large avatars is no longer valid.
The avatar that I have now is 700 kbs.

And yet, we're only allowed 40.
The only reason I was able to get this avatar on here was because we could simply image-link to the other server rather then have it be on this one at all.
Now it's here or nowhere.

Wait. So, you're...complaining, to the forum, that the loophole that was probably deliberately removed...was removed.

See the point of a filesize limit on avatars is to cut down on page loading times. If a workaround to that stops working, it's not something you complain about.

I thought the point was to save on server bandwidth, considering the number of times avatars are loaded.
A 400 KB avatar, which is a bit over half of what mine currently is (on an external server, = 0 MB of bandwidth) if it were on this server:
400 KB avatar x my 500 posts = 195 MB of bandwidth

And our current limit?
40 KB avatar x my 500 posts = 19.5 MB of bandwidth

Which is why I thought large ones used to be okay if on an external server.
