This page was what I was referring to, at least the very top part with the buggy thing.
It's not an exact parallel, but it sounds like they're going with the buggy and kinda adding onto it the other things in that picture.

Ok, now that I've read everything on the page (and not just skimmed) I'm full of mixed feelings.
The game looks massive -- even larger than cortex command. It also looks very confused, with about four different kinds of battle, and at least five objectives for land troops to work out in a game.
It also looks like it's made of really fun chunks of gameplay, and the spaceships are cool looking.
It'd be a great game, but it's so freaking complex that I cannot understand why they think they can build that, especially after taking seven years(?) on CC.
They've spent too much time on the background, just like CC.

It's CC on steroids, equally awesome and impossible to finish.

Most of what was talked about on the page looked like it could fit into CC -- the engine and game system in general.
Do you think that'd work? I mean, we've got things with wheels, grappling hooks, mecha, space ships...

What he described in the interview was not that whole page, it sounds like they're just taking the top section there with the buggy and adding some of the other things like grappling hooks and combat to it.

Hehe you guys are adorable :) New project will be officially announced shortly, with playable test build and all. Yes, I'm still personally programming CC full time, with a clear goal of completion, and only directing the new project at this point. It is being worked on by Miro Adamus, who is both a better and faster programmer than I am: http://www.miroslavadamus.sk/engine.html

I talk a bit more about the new project here:

You'd think that someone programming a game full time would have had an update or fork in the last year or so.

It just occurred to me that Datarealms time may predate Valve time.
