I'm using PostProcessing = 0, but what else is there to do in the settings.ini?
How about TrueColorMode = 0?

Framerate is usually steady, provided you aren't overwhelming your CPU with calculations.

The issue is not usually with postprocessing, its just the sheer number of computations required.

PostProcess = 0 is a start. Try not to use ubermods, as well.

Also might be time for a memory or cpu upgrade!

I just tend to have some other stuff going on at the background most of the time.

"Ctrl+Alt+Del" then the Processes Tab.

Close any programs that are not necessary.

Like, if you see steam taking 11 percent of the
computer's processing power while it is Idle, close it.

Plus, check if you have "CortexCommand.exe"s open
when you aren't playing CC. Close them.

and what THIS does?

he lowered the max unheld devices (reduces number of objects that need to be kept track of at a time) and turned off post-processing (glow effects, etc.). some sounds are also commented out, so the game would be pretty quiet. looks like some max velocities were lowered, some gibs removed, particle count lowered on things that explode... some other things, not all of which i've searched through

some effects are just changed. the grenade actually has an explosion effect, rather than just spitting out particles.

looks like it'd work.... but i'm not gonna try it

Post Processing just turns on, or off, the glows.

Grif's "LessLag" mod is basically a Base modification that mnimizes the number of calculations the cc engine has to computer by lowering the number of various pieces and pixels processed.

Particles dont last as long, there aren't as many actors and weapons on the ground, things default to terrain more quickly, etc.

Also, if you're multitasking and playing CC, you can expect lag. CC is not optimized for multi-core processors (unfortunately).

There really is no way, and you should thank Jebus that it's as smooth as it is, considering that the developer's not commercial, and plus, CC has to calculate the ohysics of every pixel, discluding objects, in the game. Wowrunon.
