I've had this idea for a while and I've recently just started coding it and am making pretty decent progress. The idea is to combine Worms (eg. Scorched Earth, Gunbound, etc) and the energy collection aspect from Moonbase Commander. On top of that there will also be buildings such as shield generators, black holes, reflector pods, satellite attacks, etc, etc. The game will be 2D and features a terrain very similar to worms but have energy pools. Energy collectors can be launched (eg. built) inside these energy pools to increase your energy collection per turn. On each turn you can spend these energy points on launching attacks against your enemy or building new structures (such as energy collectors, shield generators, etc). I'm going to have terrain destruction but I'm not sure how to do this with the energy pools. For example, what happens if you blow a hole into the side of an energy pool? It would be neat to have the energy leak out into the new area but this seems awfully complicated (but perhaps possible). Another alternative is to not have energy pools but simply "energy rich" areas where drills can be constructed. Yet another idea is to completely fore-go specific areas for energy generation and allow energy generators to be built anywhere. What do you guys think of this idea? Can I prototype this in Cortex Command? Thanks for any advice! |

From what you said, you would have to be a god of coding to modify CC like that. But if your good at coding it might be possible. |

Perhaps those will be possible once (if) Data implements LUA, but for the time being, most of that isn't really possible. |

If your trying to make a proper game (which seems to be what you are doing) making it in CC is a bad choice. To make a proper game you have to make it yourself. If you are just making a mod, try it. |

So you would want to use the CC engine? Wait till the final build and ask DATA if you can "Buy" a version of the engine from him. I'm not sure how releasing and selling game engines work, but I would think that once a developer says "Hey! You can use my engine!" Then you would pay money and he would give you a copy of the engine. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, because I have heard people say that you would "Lease" an engine. |

You lease it. That way you get money for every sale the person makes. |
