Re: Isn't "browncoats" copyright to Joss Whedon or something? This seems like a dumb question, unless Whedon holds some sort of copyright on the very name browncoat the answer is no. The browncoats in CC are only related to those in firefly by their name, in no other respect do they have any similarities. At best you could say they're inspired by it, though with this level of similarity it might as well be coincidence.
Honestly though, this whole topic seems pretty spammy and is probably a pointless avenue of discussion.
