yeah, so I just bought this, through steam, and I'm very confused here.

I'm trying to use a mod I downloaded. This one here: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=19022

And I realized that because I am using version 1.0 the mod is incompatible. But now I have a few questions:


1) How would an owner of this game, get his hands on an older version? Specifically B26 V2.

2) I assume the error I got with the before line 283 Adoor Door Something Horiz was linked to a reference to code in a version the mod was not built on which is why its probably impossible to fix the error right?

3) To get my hands on an older version, am I forced to buy it again? Cuz that doesnt make any sense.

4) Am I just better off learning to make my own mods and build them off of the newest Version 1.0?

1) 3) I'm not sure if you can get older versions anywhere anymore. I sometimes feel like playing build 13

2) I think it's up to Crow to update it for 1.0. Errors regarding outdated versions aren't usually that hard to fix.

4) Modding for this game is super easy once you get the hang of it, and it pays off through experience.

thanks for that, sucks that it ends at build 22, I need atleast 23 to try the mods. And I assume I'd have to buy the game again for a CD key that works with the client, as steam wont show a key for this game.

I guess its just better to learn how to mod 1.0.

I think I'll google footage for this brutality mod to see what its about anyway.

You don't really /need/ to buy the game again, it would be perfectly reasonable to "pirate" an earlier build if you actually own the game on steam.

But you cant pirate this game right? I thought it asks for your CD key? oooh, is that why there isnt a CD key, the client is DRM Free? Like, 3089.

The game will accept any key now since they moved to a DRM free path.

Hmm bummer, all of the torrents I've tried for B26 have come up empty. One wont complete, and the other turned out to be B24 in disguise....

So I guess I'll try this B25 torrent I found , atleast ill be able to try it.

Just out of curiosity, is it actually legal to give someone the means to download something they have bought if it's from a different distributor? I'm pretty sure Steam has a plug for that loop-hole, since games bought through steam are only "rented" indefinitely.

Really? That's kind of a bummer. I think it is down to individual countries laws, but morale-wise I don't see any problem with it

Data has no qualms with people getting older versions provided they have paid for the game, which is why he maintains the downloads in that thread. Because you have paid Data for CC (via the medium of steam), you should be entitled to obtain all available previous versions from him.

CC for steam is DRM free, however, and we consider you to own a copy of the game if you've bought it on steam.

Steam version is just like the other versions, except steam_appid.txt.

I dont mean to bug you, but do you by chance have an old zip archive with B26 lying around somewhere? I've searched alot of sites and alot of torrents and just cannot find it. If you could give me a link to it I was going to upload it to maybe gamefront or something with some form of ownership disclaimer.

This game just made me quit Mount and Blade. Seriously.

I've got one, if everybody's okay with me sharing it. Then again, it would be easier to ask for Crow or someone else to update the mod to 1.0.
