Minimum and recommended specs for PC, valve needs it and tbh we've got no idea.

Do you guys care about GPU at all? I can never remember if GPU is actually used extensively or not...

The problem here even with my [albeit not super strong, particularly anymore] Phenom II x4 955 + 4GB of DDR3 RAM + my 4890HD [the GPU...] the game can be hard to run [it dips to quite low FPS] during intense parts, particularly any explosions ever.

So...I have a hard time giving any good specs, is what I'm trying to say.

Negative, cortex command does not support GPU calculatory allocations.

Runs smoothly on my Core i3 @ 3 GHz / 4 GB at work. Previously worked ok on Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4 Ghz / 2 GB. Refuses to work on my laptop for some reason Core 2 Duo @ 2.93 GHz / 4GB. I guess Core 2 is reasonable lowest common denominator, haven't try it on weaker machines. And my home setup is Core i7 @ 3.4 GHz / 4(16)GB, runs smoothly as well.

Works pretty well on my i7(mobile version) @2.30GHz, 8GB RAM, GT 540M 2GB video.

I'd recommend just going with fairly standard options. 1-2GB RAM minimum, 2-4GB recommended; Hard drive: 100MB free (metagame saves can add a lot, yes); OS minimum XP, recommended Vista/7; processor 1.8GHz min, 2.0GHz recommended? It's not like it's a massively resource intensive game. But those are just guides.

Is there any sort of test thing that can be set up? Like a benchmark of some kind [that will accurately depict the general gameplay], so various users can run it and we can figure out what stuff is min/rec for bearable play?
I mean I thought we actually had one of those that some user had made, but it was some test with falling things and whatnot, and it was on a much older build.

It my experience it can be quite bad
And also, there's a lot more to CPUs than processor speed. That only really matters if you're comparing two of the same chip/micro-architecture/exact thing, the terminology escapes me.

3.0 ghz proc p4 single core "hyper threaded" whatever the ♥♥♥♥ that means

1 gb ddr1 ram.

i run the game decently, in fact it runs pretty well considering the timeculling or whatever you call the slow mo.

in fact the slow motion just makes my games easier and more fun. so yeah, i run the game decently.

also i'm guessing the proc is a bit more important than ram.

i'd go with 2.0 ghz single core minimum and 1gb of at least ddr1 ram minimum.

Extra creds for whoever whips up some splitscreen screenshots btw.

I can deliver some 1600x1200 shots but all my gamepads at work :(

Aww :-(

Well, thanks anyways for the specs.

Screenshot size would ideally be 960x540 btw, upscaling can be done later.

2 GB of RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo @1.83GH (2 CPUs)

It works fine, no problems unless I do stupid stuff (crab bombs, using a metric ♥♥♥♥ of Lua, glows, or all of the above while using Whitty's Wonderful Mod).

I never really post here but I use a Celeron 2.2GHz with 2GB of ram. Playing on 960x540 pretty smoothly (unless I put down like, 10+ units and/or boombooms happen on screen.) with about 72-90FPS.

Sorry, couldn't get any at 960x540. A lot of different sizes instead. They're not very good, so you might want to skip these and wait for some better screenshots :P

Cortex command has always been one of those "play what your computer can handle" games. It will run perfect on a netbook, but once things start happening the lag kicks up.

I would say anything more than 2ghz is decent for the game, I used to play it on a 1.6 P4, which worked OK... ish

True. But it depends what you play, really. I also have a quad core if that helps...

Lizard, what sort of screenshots are you looking for with splitscreen? The metagame? Scenarios? The tutorial mission with friends?
