Re: Let me just say...
Hahaha! Yes, I think you deserve to gloat this time.
I personally like the gameplay better with friendly fire disabled. I don't mind watching my guys accidentally getting shot, but it's frustrating when they try to navigate around each other only to gib each other in a flopping mess.
However, I do support the idea of toggleable friendly fire, so I can enjoy the 'screw you' moments of Cortex Command along with the adjusted, more fluid (imho) gameplay.

GOD, YOU GUYS MUST BE LIKE...GENIUSES OR SOME ♥♥♥♥. ♥♥♥♥ THE HATERS, RIGHT? Congratulations, a feature you wanted was implemented. There really doesn't need to be a topic about it. Go post about it in the Lounge or something. I still think friendly fire is a crucial gameplay component. There's no fun in playing with disposable corpses if you can't off 'em when you feel like it. Think a little bit before making such an inane topic that's existing solely so you can say "I told you so".

Re: Let me just say...
True. I just had to post seeing that it was made anyway. Hate me if you must for the unnecessary, childlike, and kind of stupid bragging.

Think a little bit before making such an inane topic that's existing solely so you can say "I told you so". Firstly, this is a discussion about the game, so it's fine where it is. Secondly, goofing off with disposable corpses is fun and all, and that's why sandbox-type scenes are fun. But when I'm playing in campaign, I'm kinda trying to win, and there comes a time when certain things stop being cute and start becoming an annoying hindrance. If I have two units near each other and multitask somewhere else, I don't want to come back and find out one shot another dead trying to hit something else that may or may not be important. That's why I advocated toggleable friendly fire. So are you going to be polite or stroll into a topic that you obviously disagree with and poop on the other users because something you wanted to keep in got taken out of the game?

Quote: Firstly, this is a discussion about the game, so it's fine where it is. That's pretty much wrong. A valid topic about the game, with potential for discussion, is fine. This looks like it's a circle jerk for people who wanted friendly fire off. He doesn't open with any discussion, he just made this topic so he could gloat. That is not a good topic, regardless of whether or not it pertains to the game. Quote: Secondly, goofing off with disposable corpses is fun and all, and that's why sandbox-type scenes are fun. That's why I advocated toggleable friendly fire. Having to work around a game's semi-retarded AI is unfortunate but something you've gotta live with. But that's not my problem with the topic, so I'll let it stand, each person to his own. Quote: So are you going to be polite or stroll into a topic that you obviously disagree with and poop on the other users because something you wanted to keep in got taken out of the game? Having only people that agree on the same things talking to one another is a terrible idea. Having dissenting voices is necessary, otherwise you'd only get the impression that your ideas are amazing and everyone agrees with it. The topic was wholly unnecessary, and me saying so isn't "coming in and pooping on other users", it's voicing a valid concern. I'm not going to be in the topic any more, since it'll just lead to me getting angry and saying things that will end up getting edited out by mods, but I think the topic should be locked.

Re: Let me just say...
When I made that post everyone shot me down saying my idea was dumb and would ruin the game. Obviously it made it better. Heres another one for you to discuss:
Make Terrain harder to damage by walking, that way we will stop seeing the AI dig a hole straight through the bottom of the map trying to get up a hill.
Make gold take 4x as long to mine but give double the amount of gold that way we dont use up all of the gold in the map within the first 2 hours of playing
Bug fix: When you reselect an actor that is givin a goto command it automaticly reverts the AI into sentry mode.

Gotcha! wrote: I still think it's a bad idea. >_> This would be gallant. Not making a big stink. Tomaster wrote: That's pretty much wrong. He doesn't open with any discussion, he just made this topic so he could gloat. That is not a good topic, regardless of whether or not it pertains to the game. This forum is game discussion. The topic is friendly fire. He opens with a gloat. The discussion moves to differing opinions on friendly fire. Besides, I find ironic humor in the post that makes it worth making. Even if I thought friendly fire should stay on I'd still find this funny since he really did get ♥♥♥♥ on in his original topic. I think he deserves a little gloat. Tomaster wrote: Having to work around a game's semi-retarded AI is unfortunate but something you've gotta live with. But that's not my problem with the topic, so I'll let it stand, each person to his own. The enderman from Minecraft. Pretty similar to this situation here. It had a gameplay mechanic that interfered with people's ability to enjoy the game because they live in constant fear of something happening beyond their control. It got fixed. Fans rejoiced. They weren't all "Y U GONNA CHANGE IT?!" I understand the enderman isn't as core a gameplay mechanic as friendly fire in Cortex Command, but I hope you can at least see the point I'm trying to make. Again, Goofus and Gallant. I am more than happy to have a discussion about friendly fire, comparing and contrasting opinions. The problem is that you did come in here and poop on everyone. You weren't even talking about friendly fire when you did it, but your opinion on it sure seemed to dictate your actions. That's all I have to say on this matter too, because if you can't even see where I'm coming from after this, then you're never going to.
