I know two people can play on a split screen but why not make the game where you could have large enough maps and factions and limited drop areas oh say up to 4 v 4 and have hosted servers? or at least 1v1 but online multiplayer with many types of games such as capture the flag or who knows maybe just fight to the death would defiantly be a great aspect of the game. |

If you do a search on online play on the forum, you should see that this simply isn't going to happen. There too much data to account for, and the engine isn't set up for online play. There is a mod that attempted it, but it was missing a lot of key features (most notably the destructible terrain) because it couldn't be accounted for without extreme lag. Sorry. |

Hmm makes sense, what if the online was player hosted instead of combined server and had a cap on the amount of sprites used at a time for multiplayer. Maybe the devs.for CC could put out a lower demanding version of CC for the pure purpose of multiplayer? Just suggestions because imagining CC to go online would be amazing for the endless.gameplay. One thing that is a must is LAN.gameplay. |

The only way to implement multiplayer would be to remove the Realtime Terrain Engine, and then you'd just be playing Soldat. So why not just make a mod for Soldat that looks like Cortex? |

i think atleast on a lan scale it would be feasable expecially if both pc's can handle it. but its worth trying. |

Yes, it would likely be feasible on a LAN scale. Still, the engine wasn't designed to incorporate online play, and it would take a lot of work to implement it (keeping in mind that the game has already been in development for literally a decade). Much as it would be a nice feature, it's doubtful that it'll be implemented -- as I understand it, Data wants to focus on finishing up the metagame, then move on to his next project, especially considering that he intends for the game to be finished this year. |

The best online play I've had was with screensharing. |

Didn't data specifically say in an interview that if someone stepped up to do net-code before the final-ish version he would implement it the best he could? |

Actually, it stands for Retro Terrain Engine. And yes, given the fully physical nature of the game, it would have to be realtime, or at least very close to realtime. |

I'd be happy if he just added multi screen support. Then I can have all the fun of not having to share a screen, while playing multiplayer with no lag. Everyone wins! Except people without two moniters. Or people with no friends to come round. |
