  HElP ON DOWNLOADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!hey why do all mods have to be .rar files, why cant they be .zip, i would really appreciated is there some links to mods with .zip files because i dont have an rar extractor..........much appreciated

As for why... as far as I understand it, .rar and .7z are frequently used in preference of .zip because of usually superior compression. As uploads to the forums are limited to a maximum size of about 10 megabytes, using a different format can help squeeze a mod just into the safe zone. It also makes for smaller (and thus faster) downloads for those poor few still stuck on slower and less-reliable connections. |

Re: HElP ON DOWNLOADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you're having problems with simple computer tasks like downloading files then you should probably look into why that's happening. Are there restrictions on your internet service that limit the types of files you can download? Are you behind some sort of internet restriction that drops a lot of packets, leading to malformed data? Do you have a virus that has infected your TCP/IP stuff and corrupts data?
Downloading and installing a program should really not be that difficult or error-prone. |
