Post subject:  impossible digging

i have noticed the bots are doing a very weird and annoying thing. for some reason, they like digging holes using their bodies rather than a digger. for example: the bots go over above my brain and pace back and forth. after 5 minutes, they have somehow dug a hole 3/4 of the way to my brain. if i dont kill them off, their pacing back and forth results in a hole to my brain room. itd be fine if they pullled out diggers and did it. i dont even understand how its possible!

my other question is why dont the bots need to mine? they seem to have unlimited resources and very boring buying habits: green clones and robot type 2s with smgs or skeletons with blunderbusses or riotshields. wtf??

please take this under consideration whenreleasing the next version of cc.

This issue has been tackled, nay, blindsided in many other threads. People have suggested diggers for all and a limited budget for the CPU and these ideas have alternatively been supported or shot-down by the community, so everyone's divided on that. But I think that we can all agree that the pace-digging is INCREDIBLY frustrating, but we're all hoping for a major AI overhaul in the next build.

It's all a matter of time.

Fingers crossed,

I am not hoping on an AI overhaul, I want more stuff to do with emitters and the scene editor.

Deciding which is more important depends on what gets done first.

If the devs manage to complete networked multiplayer, then AI is less important. But if it's going to be awhile until we can network players, I'd like to see some improved AI.

I think that they dig a hole with their mass.

You know. When your one guy is heavy enough, it starts to fall in the ground.

Now after they got like 4 dudes there the ground starts to break down, because of high value of mass.

-- I haven't really looked it up to so much, but that's my theory.

And yeah, Improved AI would be really nice.

All good points, but yes, if multiple people stand on one spot, the ground will break, but I think it would be best to say ALL of us want "impossible digging" coded out.

I think Data should make it so that actors hands and feet do not physically effect terrain.

the weird part is they have 4-5 skeletons pacing and digging (even though skeletons arnt eactly heavy) and they kill each other, as anyone whos played for more than a week would know. if you walk through someone, it hurts them.

with the ground being damaged another issue is that the earth is destroyed, rather than displaced. if my rocket crashes and takes a huge chunk out of the ground, that ground doesnt build up like it should, it just dissapears. thats kinda weird.

with the networking the are working on, how are mods gonna work? we all know there are mods out there that are unbalanced, so ppl will just cheat. if they take out mods, itll just suck, because they dont have enough stuff (actors guns tools etc).

geez. these guys have some stuff to do!

1. Skeletons have odd digging abilites, and are the most used enemy by the AI. Do the math, they're gonna dig. Also, I think their feet are roughly rectangular, so, it digs better.

2. Actually, no. When you crash a rocket into the ground, it displaces roughly a third of the earth at high speed. You'll see it land if you look closely.

3. This has been talked about many, many times. Something will be worked out.

4. They're indie developers, if you think this is their top priority in life, GTFO.

About the modding online, I think that there would be two seperate folders. One for normal CC and one for online. You wouldn't be able to mod the online one.

oh shut up grif. i know the developers arnt devoting their life to this, its free!
and the rocket should displace more than a third of the earth. whre does the other 2/3 go?

One line of vague flaming, and you hate me?

You need to learn what flaming really is. But, I don't care to show you.

Anyways, I dunno, I guess the theory is that most of the dirt is compressed into the ground. If all the particles of dirt in game reacted the way that 1/3 do, it'd lag horrificly.

AI should wander around the map, and attack in a line of site type thing. They should not automatically know where the brain is, and it should be that if they are doing the same motion for about 5 seconds, it will turn around and go the other way.

Why shouldn't it know where it is? You can see theirs clear as day.

And it's not like you can hide it, it's in the open, usually.
