better weapom priceing
I think we should come up with a simple equation for weapon priceing
Some thing that adjusts the price based on mass, sharpness, range, speed, number of particles.... Actually now that im typing this, its sounding like a bad idea.
My point remains valid though, there should be a simple guide line so guns get priced apporpriately.
Any thoughts?

I don't think you can give a gun a goldvalue based on those particulars. I test my guns on coalition soldiers, dummies, dropships etc, and based on the overall effectiveness I slap a pricetag on it, but even then it remains a bit of a guess for me.

Re: better weapom priceing
There are too many factors and complications as to what makes a weapon valuable for an equation to be very feasible.
Although it's obvious that lots of content [mod and vanilla] could use some more thought and consideration as to its pricing.

Especially with scripted guns and ammo, you just can't give a simple equation to solve all pricing. Modders should be wise and know the effectiveness of their mods, and price them accordingly. In the end, it's a matter of opinion anyway.

But there are some standards on pricings. Like pistols range from 10 to 50 gold, shotguns from 30 to 100, assault rifles 50-150, etc. Just look at vanilla thingies and compare them to yours, and then Gotcha! wrote: slap a pricetag on it But it's not that important after all, people will still use money cheats and buy ♥♥♥♥ of equipment.

Re: better weapom priceing
Automatic pricing would be near impossible to achieve considering the huge number of ways weapons can be made effective, plus when you consider scripts the program would not be able to differenciate a plain M16 from a multi ammo assault rifle with an underslung flamethrower, a laser pointer that can call down artillery strikes and an integrated automatic reverse heat seeking rabbit launcher, so no, it is not possible, you have to test your weapons to determine their effectiveness, and price them accordingly.

I think i like asklar's idea, using the price ranges in the vanilla content as a guide.
I honestly didnt think this many people would reply.

Re: better weapom priceing
Well, most modders would already do that. It's easy to price a simple bullet sprayer. The problem starts when modders start making special/weird type of stuff.

And I'll make the rest, well I already made it, If you make the rabbit part I'll integrate it to the rifle.

If you manage to complete this divine weapon, I'm sure several people will worship you. Will the rabbit bite your head off like in Monty Python and the Holy Grail?!
