Post subject:  Placing weapons at the start?

Hey, just wondering if there's a special way you're supposed to place weapons at the start of a game? I spent like an hour making this enormously elaborate bunker, and I've just been placing my dudes and my guns, but by the time I get to arming my last few robots etc, all of the first guns I placed have now become inert and are part of the landscape. It's really tricky considering I can't save the scene, and it takes a while to equip each body with an appropriate weapon for his locale.

Any advice please?

As far as I'm aware of, there isn't a time limit on picking up weapons, but there is a limit to how many loose HeldDevices can be on the map at one time. After placing so many devices, they start becoming inert in order of placement (ie the first guns you placed will become inert first) To avoid this, just don't put down too many guns, and pick them up as soon as you can so that, once the fighting starts, there won't be so many dropped devices that your placed devices will become inert.

Hope this helps! :)

Ah that explains a few things, thanks man. I don't suppose you know what the situation is with not being able to save scenes? I bought the game because I was excited to get back into it again and see what was new, however I find it discouraging spending so long on a bunker only to encounter a crash a few minutes in. I want to avoid losing patience with it so I'll want to play it longer.

Thanks again for the gun info.

You can make your bunker by going into Scene Editor and editing one of the scenes. Once you make it, you have to go into Base.rte, go to Scenes, open up your scene and add
Code:
   LocationOnPlanet = Vector
      X = number
      Y = number

After that, open up your scene in Area Editor and add areas called LZ Team 1 and LZ Team 2.

Wasn't there a variable in the settings.ini about the amount of objects that could be on the scene at the same time?

Code:
   MaxUnheldItems = 25

This is the variable you are looking for in the Settings.ini in the Base.rte. Open .ini's up with Notepad.

Alternatively, if you equip the actors directly within the scene definition, instead of just dropping guns in front of them, you wouldn't need to worry so much about breaking the limit for maximum unheld devices.
Then you'd just need to worry about breaking the MOID limit.

Can the MOID limit be altered through a variable in the settings.ini?

No, it is hardcoded at present. I believe Data said it was unlikely to be raised either.

All really good info, thanks everyone, you've all been very helpful :)

Actually, @Nocifer, could you possibly explain how I could go about that, please? I've searched quite a bit and can only find a mention of pre-equipping actors here, and it was never finished.

Yeah, zalo's method is best. Just set it to 1000 or something and you're good to go.
