Re: CC vs the other project (Cave Vehicle)
And we have tried the CVE. There's a free download for it.

Don't worry, I guess it was an understandable mistake to make.
I wonder how Data redoes the main page once he gets more than one game to advertise.

Heh, it can only get better. Seriously, that website is one of the most inviting I've ever seen.

Re: CC vs the other project (nevermind :P )
Did i get the right download? The basic CVE engine demonstration thingy? If i did then it really is too soon to tell what the game's gonna be like But hey, the gfx are clean. My whiole point with the original post was just to raise the question; Would we be willing to sacrifice the completion of CC for the development of an awesome new game (that although its not 100% CC sticks to similar ideas) ? Id like to see squads of lil coalition guys running around seamlessly, as in you directly control one guy and he is binded to another 3 or 4 others (ie you build the squad, select the actor and its loadout) then the others follow you aorund and target the sdame enemies, with their different weapons. Oh and it would be awesome if they could move through each other, and shoot through each other. So you can deploy and control a bunch of units as one unit, move out, attack the target, if they get owned you can retreat and get reinforcements. haha its an awesome idea i've got in my head thats hard to explain and probably will never happen, but for me, it will be a lot slicker, fun and have a better pace than the rather clumsy unit control of CC... (Ie: your units trampling each other, not being able to navigate simple obstacles, and in the end a dropship is shot down and it kills EVERYTHING, your whole 2000oz strike force)

It just feels as though CC might be a white elephant thats gained so much support but is standing in the way of the development of a better game (maybe) Ie: Indie developers already have limited resources, so they usually need a focus. That way we can get our hands on CVE earlier

CC >= CVE
At this precise moment in time. Data will always prefer CC to CVE because he's done so much for it. He wouldn't let anything take its place.

I suppose the other guy is being paid? Therefore money and resources are going towards CVE and Dan is probably going to put quite a bit of work and time into CVE himself. With Indie developers its usually beneficial to either focus on one larger game and maybe churn out a few smaller ones in-between. As opposed to splitting your time and resources working on a project and dragging it out (CC has been in development for more than 5 years now). People are more willing to pay for a complete game, and that’s a fact. We’ve all seen the potential in CC and are willing to pay to help further the development, but not every gamer (especially not those who are not usually interested in indie games) is going to pay to get an incomplete version. I’d personally like to see CC completed, I love the concept and the ideas. But if Data decides to “finish it” before its at 100% potential I wouldn’t blame him. Its been years since development started and if he wants to be very successful in the field that he’s passionate about, it would be more financially viable to either complete and put CC out as a final version ASAP, or to focus on what he might deem a project with more potential . I'm not saying CVE will be better, its basically just an engine and a few concepts at the moment. So yes, CC > CVE by far. CVE might not end up being the game Data fans had hoped for. Or the next CC build might blow us away… Either way, I want the definitive version of CC. People will pay for it and more resources will become available to Data, so we get more great games and I have high hopes for CVE.
