I've been watching this game evolve from Build 9 or so and I love it to bits. It looks original and is really good fun to play. I am however growing impatient with the slow rate of progress.

Will we ever see a finished game or is this a dead project now? I'm beginning to lose hope.

Here's the thread with MLC's interviews with Data.

We'll have Build 24, which will be yet another version of the incomplete project.

But closer to completion nontheless.
Also, with it being the second build with Lua off-stage, it's ought to contain a lot of things Dan missed when implementing Lua for B23.

I hadn't thought of that, but that's a really good point.

Stuff like working Lua on attachables (including guns :)).
I remember TLB or someone saying that Dan has been notified of this not working at present.

Data commented on the devlog in response to someone asking why attachables didn't work.

His response was, in effect "Wait, lua on attachables doesn't work?"

I'm not holding my breath, is what I'm saying.

There's also that whole "woah, wait, IsScrap doesn't work either? bit. Not very encouraging.

I'm guessing Data just kinda cruises along and labels certain things done when they work at all.

Or when they stop giving runtime errors.

Data has a huge list of things to fix, I just don't think he's had a chance to look at it. Trust me when I say that basically all of the problems with the game are documented.

Yeah, with a program this technically complex, there is bound to be a few problems that slip under the radar, and there has been a few times when I have given the "Wait, it doesn't work?!" response myself.

Then again, seeing as he's already aware of some of these problems, I think we can expect at least some partial fixes in B24. Lua on attachables? Maybe. Fixing IsScrap? Probably.

AI that isn't retarded? Lolno. AI is probably on the backburner. Then again, seeing as Dan didn't know about some of the other problems in CC, maybe there will be some AI updates by B24 (eg not making idle actors freak out when a piece of dirt happens to hit the ground 100 yards away, not making them fly away from friendlies after you select "GoTo" and then "Sentry" mode, etc)

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed somewhere that AI has been transferred to Lua, which means we'll be able to fix any inadequacies ourselves if necessary.
