So im new and as I have noticed that some things like color of text and all caps are :( upon. What are some other rules so i don't get yelled at.

Over-use of smilies.
Image quoting.
Bad grammar and spelling.
"First Post" posts.

Not really rules (except image quoting/first post), but people will think better of you for not doing them.

They're not really rules as such: if your post is contributing, not many people will actually care.
That being said, excessive use of smilies is generally frowned upon, as is random use of coloured text. Grammar and spelling will be picked out if it is especially bad, but generally people aren't bad enough to warrant a reaction.
An important one, and a universal one, however, is the unnecessary production of threads and/or posts. Before you post, please either look to see if a thread with pretty much the same topic has already been made, assuming you are making a thread. If you are posting in a thread, please read the thread, or at least the original post and the last few pages.

Don't try to give help when you have no idea what you are talking about.

Wikipedia doesn't count, nor any form of encyclopedias, or public edit sites.
We have a problem with the wkik-freaks here, smart assing is for getting crucified, except for elder members, and socialites, they know what they are doing.

This is not always the case and should not be assumed.

Basically, participate intelligently, speak when you have something valid to contribute, and if you are uncertain of your answer, say so and be the first to admit it may be wrong.

A good rule is to search the post history of the person giving you help, if only for the threads they have made. This should give you a pretty good idea of their capabilities in modding. If they are providing help in other things, restrict your search to any posts in the appropriate forums.
