some of the people around here act like everything is going to explode at a moment's notice or that Data will completely abandon us. was there something i missed? i read all the dev logs and such... and i know about the incident that happened a long ways back, when i was still a lurker and all. but really. i hear comments like "data has moved on" and "it will never be finished" i would just like an explanation for that mindset. |

As for the doom sayers, well they're just whining because there will be no multi-core support, and Data has been talking about other projects recently(about how he'll try for multi-core stuff in them). It's kinda hard to not try new things after doing the same thing for 7(at least 1-2 years since that was accurate) years. Really it's just like a kid fearing that mum will only pay attention to the baby, except it's the community fearing for the kid. |

i was referring to "Thormageddon" yeah, that was the general vibe i was getting, but i can completely relate to how Data must be feeling, i mean, i do a lot of art, but if i don't finish a painting in a day (on my computer tablet at least) it generally becomes doomed to withering away. and he's been at it for years. |

it just has the atmosphere of a bad vibe to me. i'm not sure how they are related, but i just have this feeling that it created a lot of tension around here. |

Maybe I'm just oblivious, but I don't feel any tension. Probably because it's on the internet, and it's pretty hard to feel anything on the internet. |

It doesn't matter how much time he's wasted if the end product still isn't playable (I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about content) "Moving on" means I get to spend more money when I still can't enjoy the last product I was sold (Once again, don't care about the campaign or content) |

I personally blame the slow number of updates, the weekly monday mail bag being monthly, and data mentioning other projects, combined with lack of multiplayer, multiple cores, or graphics cards being supported, as well as suddenly 'zomg no signatures because a few people don't like them', combined with the usual forum BAWWWW. It's not one thing or another, it's the fact that we've gotten them one after another, after another for the past few months. Its a god damned maelstrom of drama and bawww-ing. that combined in general hostility between some posters, makes this forum quite unfriendly. I've actually taken a break from modding, and even DLing mods, or even PLAYING, until data at least gets an update that involves "these features feel mostly done, and unlikely to change dramatically again" that being AI moving from C++ to lua, modding moving more heavily into lua, and the basis of how the game sorts factions for use with the campaign. I'm personally waiting until that point to seriously do anything again with this game or forum, because I personally believe that Until, or dare I say IF we get to that point, The forums are going to stay insane. I've gotten to a point of only stopping in briefly every few days. Hoping things have gotten better. I've been making music and playing some MMO's in the mean time. I strongly recommend that you stay a lurker, and only check occasionally, until things calm down with all the negativity. or at least back to everyone hates eachother instead of fearing for the death of their precious. |

Pretty sure talking about Thormageddon is against the rules. |

I think Miles is right. It's a build up of bad news, it's starting to piss people off. I am the first to admit that I've been trollin' and flamin' a lot more, because I am majorly disappointed in Data's current attitude. |

ProjektTHOR wrote: Pretty sure talking about Thormageddon is against the rules. Also, if that's true, then I'd like to protest; as long as the mention isn't being used to specifically flame Thor, it should be fine, and that's covered by the standard anti-flaming rules. |

Official (from my perspective) position. It is like an embarrassing uncle. Everybody knows he's there, but you don't talk about Uncle Frank. If he comes up in conversation, you quickly steer away from him. You don't talk about Uncle Frank. I certainly wouldn't do anything at the mention of it, and treat posts that break other rules as posts that broke those rules, nothing more or less. That said, I am the newest member of the moderation team, so my view may not be the official official position. |

Duh102 wrote: That said, I am the newest member of the moderation team So anyway, yeah, there's a general atmosphere of unrest. I attribute this to the changes in the forum and confirmation that certain features are not planned on being added. Though, personally, I don't see why it's being made such a big deal of. |
