[*]Wildlife discussion To start: what are jumpers or hoppers or whatever is the only other known wildlife besides crabs that ppl talk about? |

They are no-armed one-legged AHumans with a jump ability instead of a jetpack. Their head covers their whole body, and this give the appearance that the technical head is the body, and that the body tilts as per your aim. IIRC, they're actually even loaded in the game by default in B23, but they're inaccessible since your can't buy them and they aren't placed in any missions/scenes. They obviously are not yet complete, seeing as they're not implemented, but their current state shows what they look like and the general idea behind them. I'm guessing they'll just be more dynamic scenery, like the crabs are. |

That thing was awesome. CC couldn't really support it's six legs well and easily though. If it's feet could pin you and stab you, that would be crazy awesome. I would like to see some massive trap door spiders that are well hidden to even the player, that pop out and nab actors that get too close. And maybe some aerial floating jellyfish gas-sack balloonish creatures. The planet does have half the gravity of earth (IIRC) and an undetermined atmosphere, so it's not terribly implausible. Maybe when they pop, they splatter a bit of a noxious fluid, to make them an environmental hazard to be wary of and use to your advantage. |

Meh, alien animals always well define a... Bah here: http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/al ... eshow.html Based after a book "Expedition" by Wayne Douglas Barlowe, would be pretty dang interesting to encounter the planet's various wildlife in some of the future missions. |

I'm agreed with azukki, exist a very huge empty about all kind of species what we can have in the next version (please, data) using them into our advantage, or try to clean up a planet of insects and beast, to be sincere... I'm a bit tired to fight always against green team... About dsmk2 reference pictures, it will be amazing found all this kind of "random" and oddly kind of species around the planets or the sectors of our green planet... I'm feel so incomplete right now... |

I think it'd definitely be cool to see some wildlife that could be odd, interesting, dangerous, or all of the above. I definitely liked the introduction of the "Mother Crab" First time I encountered it I freaked out, because it landed far enough away not to crush me, but close enough to knock the gun down out of my hands and crush it. I say this in part from my own interests, but I think it'd be interesting to see an animal/actor that could pass through terrain without interacting/destroying with it, but could collide and engage in combat with other actors. E.g. Graboids, tremors, sand-worms, giant worms, any kind of worm-like creature that would erupt forth from the soil with a gaping maw, and then retreat back to the safety of the ground. Not only would that be awesome and intimidating, but it'd be equally awesome to take control of one yourself and go around eating clones. In general, more wildlife actors who are effective with melee/unarmed combat...spitting creatures could be cool too, though. Especially if you get some acid in the mix and do that cool little skeleton-swap Grif is sporting. I think it'd also be equally as fun to play as a colony of native wildlife defending its hive/lair/nest against armed clones and dummies, as it is to play as a brain in a bunker against those same odds. One game I thought always had an interesting assortment of fauna was Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun. In particular, a creature in the game called viceroids. They were the result of what happened when organic materials decomposed in the presence of tiberium. The matter broke down into simple organisms that would join together into a colony to form a bigger creature, and would travel around as a writhing blob in search of more organic matter to consume. Normally, they are small and harmless. But when two or more viceroids joined together...they made an "Adult" viceroid, which in all respects was essentially "The Blob" straight from the horror flick. You would have to send an entire detachment of your forces if you hoped to combat it. It did massive damage to vehicles, and when it devoured infantry (which it could do instantly) it would regain health. I'd imagine if faced with something like that, you'd find great use in playing as the dummy faction. Though I'm sure between Data and Prom they've got a massive compendium of resources for creature ideas. I think a variety of wildlife could also make for some interesting missions. Say, Tradestar is interested in some of the natural abilities and chemicals the creatures on the planet utilize. Your mission: to capture various benign and deadly animals, alive and return them to Tradestar. "We want 5 Mother Crabs, 3 Worms, and 1 Adult Viceroid" "FFFFFUUUU" "Wait...better make it two Viceroids" Bit long, I know... But the idea of killing clones by eating and melting and mauling them makes me giddy. |

I noticed something. Why is it that if I make the mother crab buyable, she can't jump? Or am I using the wrong crab, I enabled the one in wildlife. |

The mother crab is coded to jump at the nearest actor in that specific mission. That's why you can't buy it. |

Well, on my internet journeys I happen to find a picture of a giant snail wearing a gas mask and equipped with two big twin-barrel machinegun by Prom. Let's make one, shall we? And oh, also the thanksgiving turkey soldier. |

I can only ever come up with aquatic wildlife for some reason, and if I don't its a bird that eats metal or something else retarded. so... yeah... pick one and i'll start spewing out creatures. I went to a panel at a convetion by some sci-fi/fantasy writers on 'making your aliens, alien'. that is making aliens, not instantly understood by people. actually, Just throw some real-world animals at me, and i'll turn them into aliens. i'll be back later, and I'll have some ideas. |

Some old ideas I had before. There was a thread in mod making talking about the same thing, with many people throwing out their ideas. |

you come across, An Enormous silvery frog that stands taller than a man. the air is thick and muggy. the frog appears to be bloated, and bouncing about like a balloon. the bottom seems to slosh around, as if it was a balloon thats a portion full of water. you smell Ozone in the air, coming from this... creature. it suddenly deflates as it belts out a dim orange flame that melts your face off. it is now thin, and slowly, very slowly re-inflating. This strange large frog is mutated with plants, and a high quantity of metals in the environment. it has evolved to have a photo voltaic cell for skin. not photosynthetic, but photo voltaic, meaning it generates an electrical current. It ingests a large amount of water, and salt, and converts 3 H20 into O3 and pure hydrogen. the O3 /ozone increases the planets airpresure, and supports larger life. the local insect life are the size of a small dog, up to the size of a cow. these massive, bloated, electric, fire-breathing frog-baloons seem to be more of a nuisance than actual threat, but are a critical part of the environment, and the local wildlife understands this. even the giant killer bees, and ants that can cut a car in half, will protect them. so your just gonna have to deal with the frog-flamers purping at you when they feel threatened. There land-mines, there flame throwers, they get in the way, and killing them will piss off the locals. How do you approach this? |
