Hey, I just tried to buy Cortex Command through the web link to Plimus. After filling in the order form I got a page saying they already have a similar order on record and would I please confirm I want to place the new order... The problem is the order they asked me to confirm was a £200+ one of completely unrelated items and along with this provided me with the full billing details of someone else (CC number, billing adress, security number, everything), presumably the person who actually placed this £200+ order. As it stands I'm calling up my bank to block any kind of transaction from Plimus and I'm sure as hell not going to risk touching them again. I just hope they don't keep my details on record and flash them up to everyone on the internet too. Is there no other payment option other than working through a crimally negligent Ukranian reseller? If not maybe it's time to look at alternatives. Cheers, I hope this hasn't just cost me a lot of money... |

That's certainly a problem. I would suggest sending an email to Data himself, as he rarely checks these forums. Send an email to contact@datarealms.com. He might not respond immediately as he's away right now, but I'm sure he'll get back to you soon. |

Plimus has been certified secure by Visa, McAfee, Mastercard, and Verisign. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VeriSign Verisign handles two fifths of north america's e-commerce. I am reasonably sure that they are secure. Besides that, if you did lose any money (which you won't) then Data would be happy to refund it; you're not dealing with EA here. Anyways, slightly more information on what exactly happened would help; a screenshot with all personal information blacked out, for instance. We can't exactly take your word for something based on "a 200 pound list of charges". |

I know it's supposedly certified, I don't even start an online transaction untill I have reasonable cause to think they're trustworthy. Regardless, flashing up someone's billing details to a complete stranger is dropping the ball big time, not to mention mixing up the order details completely. Given it's an automated system I think it's reasonable to believe it could happen again too, so some prior warning to other users would be helpful. I know it's not Data or CC's problem at all, I just thought since it's a small indy operation I might be able to get the word out more successfully here and at least expose fewer people to the risk of having their details released inadvertantly. I have contacted Plimus about it too but I'm not hopeful about getting any meaningful response for a long time, if ever. Like you said, you're not EA, but Plimus are big enough that I expect masses of beaurocratic frustration. |

Just so you know, Grif is just a user on the forum. The guy you want to contact is Data. |

Aye I'm in the process of sorting a proper email to Data anyway. Don't worry the pic I sent was completely sanitized, since I had it for the various emails I figured no harm in sending it before I get accused of being a complete nut job and making up scare stories. |

But would Scancode know anything about this whole Plimus operation, and how to fix it? If you haven't sent the PM yet, I suggest you forward that message to Scancode as well, as he designed the whole licensing system, and probably worked out the whole thing between Datarealms and Plimus too. Maybe scancode will recognize a bug or error with the system, and contact Plimus about it himself. |

Besides, is there really a point in telling him this? Grif made a very intelligent and informed post above and that alone should be enough to make him seem trustworthy. |
